Folks,

BuddyW has reached out to try and come up with some ways to have people be more comfortable Posting here on BGH. He is to be commended for what he is trying to do.

This has been the site where more Knowledge about ways to be more successful challenging the Ole Short Tail have been discussed and made available to beginners than anywhere at anytime since Mr. Adam told Ms. Eve that he was headed to the woods to get her a pretty Bobcat skin to replace that Fig Leaf.

Having a place for Thoughtful, Courteous discussion about the ways to overcome the many challenges of Hunting the Hounds after arguable the United States most elusive quarry is wonderful to say the least!

Now Mr. Dean, Clint Berg, Marcial, and Sourdough all bring good suggestions to the table for BuddyW to ponder. But the bottom line is have a comfortable NON-CONFORTATIONAL forum to discuss the many different ways that there are to pursue the Bobcat with Hounds is what we are looking for.

BuddyW tells me that mandatory Posting of names is out for several very valid reasons. I still would like to see folks Post there real names and the State that they live in, but that would be a request not a Rule.

I wish that you could just tell Folks to use “Common Sense” when Posting, that it is OK to disagree with some one just do not be disagreeable. However “Common Sense” sometimes is in short supply when TEMPERS get warmed up.

So I think that BuddyW’s idea of having a Section Team come up with guidelines of behavior for his moderators to follow in limiting the unpleasantness in some Postings in each section is a good Idea! Hopefully when implemented, this will have some of the Great Discussions that I have enjoyed participating in come back to BGH. Also I will enjoy telling the tales of the “Cat Hound Opry” here, as the many friends we have made across the Country have really helped when Dad has been down!

Good Luck to BuddyW in putting this together I will look forward to helping any way I can.

Happy New Year to you All!

Everyone keeps thinking this is the Shadetree. These problems NEVER existed on the Shadetree. You have to remember it will NEVER be the Shadetree again. Zeus ran a tight ship and and didn't put up with the BS and kept/kicked the trouble makers out. That's why it was such a good board. It was about quality not quantity. The non sense about requiring or recommending real names be used was NEVER brought up there. Buddy doesn't want to put as much time into this board as Zeus put into his, rightfully so. They are at different stages of their life, while running their respective board.

Bottomline, Buddy runs this board different than Zeus ran his board. I've never expected this place to replace the Shadetree. I'm willing to bet there's more members here now than there was at the end of the Shadetree.

RIP Zeus hopefully your catching a few up there

How about this. When you start a thread you become moderator of that certain thread and can delete reply's as you feel needed. I would not suggest this for everything but for some topics this might be great.

Just my humble opinion! The problem with this site is not really a problem. It is a problem with society as a whole. The old timers that have invested their entire lives to raising, breeding, training and experiencing success or failure trying to share their experiences to help the younger generation of hunters not to make the same mistakes that they have had to learn by experience and failure somtimes is taken the wrong way by chest thumpers that want instant recognition as being one of the best. It is the nature of man and will never change. For one, I appreciate the friends that I have made on this forum and feel that it does not take a mental giant to separate the real from the wannabes. I really do not have a good answer for how to moderate so many diverse hunting styles or the type of hounds it takes to get the job done in certain locales. But one thing I am sure of is that the younger generation will wish that they have listoned more when they become the old folks. All that really needs to happen here is respect for other peoples experiences. They are not the same as yours!!

God Bless you All!

I wish I could go back and have learned to keep my mouth shut in the precence of Elbert Vaughn, O.O. Grant. Warren Haslour,Al Womack, Mel Farber and a few others! I probably would be alot smarter today!

Was a smart ass kid then! Wish I had listened more!

We have always been able to report posts it is the little ! on the side of every post. But now that he has people in charge of certain topics are they going to have the power to just remove anything innapropriate. Im just kinda confused as to everything that is going on.

I personally,

First, found this website refreshing in the beginning, because of the common bond and interest in hounds and hunting.
I was turned off, when I notice allot of posts had political and anti government , anti-President satire.

I came to this site for the Hunting and Hound views.
Not Political views.
CNN and FOX has a website platform to post any and all political views.

I my opinion , if you want to improve this website, "Cut out the Anti-President and Political posts".....and lets get back to the common topics of Hounds and hunting.

Politics and Religion are personal and should remain that way. Just should be voiced somewhere else.

Our differences in hunting, hunting styles and hounds, I can accept and really appreciate.
Many hunters have great new technics and ideas that are proven. It's about HUNTING !

This is a Houndsman & Hunter Website, correct?

Please keep it, that way.

Buddy,
I must admit, I've only been on a couple times in the past few months compared to the many times a week i used to log in. However, I feel you are doing great with the improvements suggested. You are always seeking an overall experience instead of trying to please a favored few. Much respect for that. Personally I believe if people have issues, they can move on. Ultimately the decisions are yours to make and though I am only one, I agree with your prior statements, and strongly believe many others see it as a positive move forward as well! I hope your new moderators are doing well, and let me know if there is anything I can do to help. :D . Good luck fellow houndsmen!
