Re: Bobcat hunting in Mississippi
Straight down the interstate from you from about Wiggins on down to poplarville and all east of there all the way down to the coast is dog hunting clubs, one of the last pockets of die hard hound running cultures and lifestyles left in the south east, lots of and lots of private timber company land ...

Re: Parvo recovery, yard clean + other dogs, vaccinations
I’m no vet so I’m saying this from just my experience but I’ve never seen an adult dog catch parvovirus vaccinated or not, I have seen adult female come down and die of coccidiosis while raising a litter of pups, and looking back and knowing what I now know that was more than likely hook worms bc no...

If she pulls through just keep all the food and water in front of her she wants along with giving her some pro and pre biotics to help restore her beneficial gut bacteria, grown dogs it shouldn’t phase but younger dogs it may, just keep an eye out, no it will not have any adverse effects on her hunt...

Re: Kidney failure
There was a podcast on houndsmen XP where they had a sled dog racer/vet on their talking about dog nutrition. After hearing all he had to say I ended up picking up a bottle of Maltodextrin to add to my dogs water after long hunts in the heat. I haven't used it a whole lot but from what this guy was...

Re: Lion Killing Ranchers!!!!
I'm a rancher. The old saying that Farmers buy everything retail and sell wholesale is still true. Livestock are a commodity that we have very little say in the price received. Over time the market tends to osculate right at break even levels. When prices are above break even, everyone makes a litt...

Re: Trailing in the desert
Al, when I say swing I’m not talking about one direction. Most animals leave a trail in somewhat of a streight direction whatever they do, feeding running or just traveling. The dogs I’ve noticed that can move game workinside out moving forward. If you think of 12 on the clock, most tracks are goin...

It’s scientifically proven in man tracking that sudden fear can and does change the scent and pheromones that are released by the body resulting in a different scent profile, I’m no cat hunter but have read and studied these cases and instances a good bit just out of curiosity, I’ve seen this very t...

Re: Alfa collar malfunction
I’ve used Garminsince the 220 /dc30 came out and have never had a problem with them not tracking and finding my dog. As far as I know, I’ve never had one malfunction and correct the dog on it’s on. I’ve made mistakes and corrected the wrong dog a lot of times. The only other function I find useful ...

They have the market cornered, garmin has lead they way in GPS technology since the beginning of GPS then they bought out the largest and most well known makers of dog training technology and now know they have the dog hunters by the throat and can and will charge whatever they would like...

Re: Spring Bear Hunting Question
We don't have a spring bear season anymore in New Mexico but when we did it could make for a long days. If you can get on a spring bear in the rough rocky country very soon after he comes out of the den, his pads are still soft and he will get sore footed and stop or climb pretty quick. But let him...

[quote author=Goose87 link=topic=98524.msg571482#msg571482 date=1582583951] Funny this is brought up, we just lost one heck of a seasoned strike dog and this possibility was brought up, collar quit working altogether and when we finally found the dog he looked as if he was sucking extremely hard for...
