Re: A Legend Passes

I wrote stories in FULL CRY for probably about 30 years.I always loved to read Del's column because he could paint a story in your mind .He was not only a great hunter but a great writer as well. I remember getting my magazine and eagerly turning to Del's article. Lo and Behold! Del went from tellin...

Re: Young Redbone

Red is progressing nicely.Just trees naturally with no false trees so far. He has a cold nose and lots of hustle. He has some quirks but no serious faults. Opens good with Raisen but is tight by himself. Runs a jump track like a running dog with a big bawl mouth. I hope to get him rigging soon but ha...

Re: Split Race

One of the most difficult tasks a beginning houndman should learn is the need to cull. Give your dog a good chance to make the grade but when they start showing an obvious fault it's time for them to go. If you want to catch game you have to make some hard decisions. If you just enjoy being outdoors...

Re: Bear leading dogs to porky pine

Back in the 70's a couple of my high school friends and I treed a big bobcat right on the side of the road. I made a bad shot and the cat came out running. He didn't go far and Old Rock and Jack put him under a log. There was one Hell of a fight going on when we got there. This was at night by the way...

Re: Young Redbone

Thanks guys! I go through a lot of hounds but few make it for very long here,so I do get excited when a good prospect comes along. I bred my Raisen gyp to a stud that has the potential of being the best cross I've ever made but that still doesn't mean the pups will turn out.lol Knowing what the ance...

Re: Bobcat Dog by Dave Peightal

In my humble opinion it is much, much harder to find the caliber pup that can make a cat dog nowadays. With the modern equipment we have now I do believe it's easier to put together a pack that can tree cat . In the past I've had small packs that could tree cat regularly but didn't have A CAT DOG in ...

Re: Az High desert

Love the video! Some people think a 70lb hound is to big,I'm not one of them.
Would sure like to try a pup out of Clyde if you ever breed him to a good female and sell any pups.

Re: Weyerhaeuser hunting in Oregon

I don't think it's so much hunters taking to many cats, I think it's to many hunters that can catch cat. If that makes sense ?
Oregon has an overabundance of successful cat hunters.IMO

Re: Cat dog on fox

I started running fox a few years back when the bobcat population plunged dramatically in my area ,hopefully it will build up again now that fur prices dropped .
