Re: Tire
Kelly Safari TSR tires are what I recommend. If you shop on Ebay or Amazon you can get pretty good price on them.

Re: Lead dog male or female?
I think it is a personal preference and what suits your personality. I personally prefer hunting female dogs myself.

Re: Boots
I would recommend the caBela miendle brand. I am a fat guy so I tend to wear out boots quicker than most. If they don't make it a year cabelas will warranty them.

Re: nonresident snow lion hunting trip
What ever Western state you decide to try lion hunting in try to be there when the first big snow happens. The big snow will push the deer, elk, moose, and other animals to lower elevations and the lions will follow. Later in the season figure out were the game is wintering at and the Lions will be ...

I use a marlin 444 lever gun. It puts them down fast when you are on the ground with them.

Re: Bluetick Bear Hounds
I believe that every breed has good bear dog's. In any breed if you find the one's that run to catch you will have a pack of bear dog's. I personally like to have a kennel that is multiple breeds..

Re: lions fighting hounds at the tree.
Last season I had a lion race that lasted 9 hours. The dog's cold trailed for a hour and then had it jumped. It sounded like bear bay up for the majority of the race. Dog's finally got it to stay treed and it was a big tom. I was getting it checked in at the local taxidermy shop and told this gentle...

I recommend the icom marine vhf with a shoulder mike. I have been using them at work and in the wood's for years. They are waterproof and have good battery life.

Re: Building a Big Game Pack
There is not a correct answer here. As individual houndsmen what may work for one person may not work for another. Some guy's like hunting only females and others like only males and others don't care they will hunt bolth. If you want to keep two pup's do it. I think one thing we can all agree on is...

Re: Dog not wanting to tree.
If the dog is putting the game up the tree for you and barking a few times tie it back and jump the game out of the tree and let it catch it again. I have found that it will make lite tree dog's turn into good solid tree dog's. JMHO hope that helps.
