Re: plott info
Huntfish8, I just approved your account on Plott News. We have a pretty good section on the Salmon River line which I think you'll find interesting.

Re: Big hounds
Good post LDB. The drive in a dog is more important than the size.

Re: Looking for the best plott bloodline
Darrell, I approved your membership for Plott News last night, your good to go. It's not just a Bluff Creek site, we have been working on a historical Plott section that goes way back into several lines. Looking forward to seeing you on the site.

Re: Looking for the best plott bloodline
Don't know if they are the best line out there, but between myself and the couple guys I hunt with we have several Bluff Creek dogs in our yards which came directly from Herd. I find them to be easy starting and able to do the job.

Re: what brand of dog food do you feed?
I usually have 8-10 dogs here year round. I worm each dog monthly with 1cc of Ivermectin, then three times a year (spring, summer, and fall) with Valbrazen. The Valbrazen I give 1cc to 10lbs for three consecutive days. Works good and catches most worms at an afforable price.

Re: Toyota Tacoma
I have the TRD package on mine and have all the items you mentioned. By reading Rico's post it almost sounds like there may be an after market modification to allow the diff lock to be used in 4 HI. As it is right now, the diff lock only stays engaged when your in 4 Low.

Re: Leo Dollins
I received a telephone call from Leo a couple of nights ago and he sounded good on the phone. As a matter of fact he is heading down to Florida/Georgia in the next couple of days to do some bear hunting.. Just thought you guys would like the update.

Re: mules
I have a neighbor that uses mules just for that. If I'm not mistaken there is a guy in Kansas that sells and trains mules for your style of hunting.

Re: Toyota Tacoma
I have a 2001 Toyota Tacoma crew cab TRD with 160,000. I just had the transmission rebuilt because of a bad pump. I just made two trips to Idaho with the truck and averaged between 18-19 mpg. That was at speeds between 75-85, so I didn't think that was too shabby. Mine has the added leaf in the back ...

Re: Boycott Bear Hunting Magazine part 2
I probably don't need to tell many of you this, but this is exactly what the antis want. They would love nothing more than to divide us in numbers because of the method in which we hunt. And from what I'm seeing here, it's happening. When we start talking about BANNING a magazine that promotes ...

Re: Boycott Bear Hunting Magazine part 1
Peter, After reading the short paragraph you posted from the magazine, I see no reason to BAN this magazine as most of what was printed is true. We as hunters need all the publications we can get that educate the public on our style of hunting in a positive way, whether we agree with that style or ...

Wes,
I see Fisher tracks over the winter, but the areas I see them in seem to change. I don't think there are as many Fisher as their used to be.
The porkies seem to be at an all time high.
I don't think the Fisher has to depend on the porkie for a meal anymore, now they have the turkeys and grouse ...

Spring, I just stand the stump up in the middle of my sand bed and cap it with a flat rock. I located a bunch of flat granite rock in the southern part of the state where I Turkey hunt and hauled them back a few at a time. They make perfect lids. I got tired of the bear breaking the crosscut wooden ...

I think part of it is my fault. This year, I find myself dumping more dogs loose from the bait than usual because of the wolf population here. What I think may be happening is: the dogs are pushing each other trying to locate and find the track and bang, one dog finds a porkie and grabs it and its ...
