Re: Let’s talk.
There is wolves, I usually look for sign and talk with the locals that I run into. They do seem to move some. One week they will be in a certain next week they move on to the next. So if you can find them you can usually stay away from them.

Re: New or young dogs coming
I used to run only females, but now have basically an all male pack. Maybe one day I will get back to it but only issue i have now is they all like to pee where the other pees and on occasion a snarl in the box. When I had all females I mostly spayed them all because our season didnt want them to ...

Re: New or young dogs coming
Yes I really should have bred him earlier in his life or more than once. I did basically a line breed as tight as I could and all the dogs are running well from what I hear. It was a small litter six males.

Re: New or young dogs coming
The bigger of the two 2 years old goes about 65 pounds is out of one of the dogs I might consider a once in a life time dog. He was bigger and barrel chested but didn't get wore down until he was probably 8 years old where he would need a break or a day off. For being such a bigger dog he had speed ...

Re: New or young dogs coming
The second young dog isn't slow but he seems to wear down quicker hopefully in time can find a balance with him. But agreed a strung out pack is never as good as a pack that can run together. Last fall was a rough year, lost two of my main dogs so down to 5 dogs, the two young one previously stated ...

Re: New or young dogs coming
I have 2 males just over 2 so might be getting to the point I won't call them young dogs anymore. One is from some breeding I like from out west and have had some luck with. Small build maybe 45 pounds but fast and gritty. But very calm dog that will lay around the yard. The other is some local ...

Re: Dogs,Dogs,Dogs
Interesting topic, I can say over the years my patience has come and gone and come back I guess and settled with what works for me is two seasons but have to make sure you give the dog as much opportunity as your favorite dog. The reasons I choose two is a few reasons. One is because if you start ...

Re: Non res hound hunting
Wisconsin got rid of the hound permit can train as long as the season is open, but the tag is draw, doesn't matter residents or nonresident. The farther east ya go most don't have a hound permit that I recall but require a hunting license and tag for nonresidents to train or hunt during their season ...

Re: What type of gun do you carry with you hunting?
I run with a 45-70 Henry lever action. Open sights no scope. Not exactly a light gun to carry but can take a beating and make it count. It is usually always in the truck but really only brought out if someone needs it or asked to be back up.

Re: What's your longest race?
Well it has been a couple years but had a few go over 27 miles if I recall and didn't catch or tree the bear kept pulling a bigger gap. That also was losing service from time to time to get around so it could have been more. But I guess this year I would say our average is pretty much the same as ...

Re: What’s the deal???
I agree it has been slow on the forum lately but hunting seasons/training seasons have started or about to start so some people could be busy but can't speak for everyone. Also, I think some form of social media in one way or another has taken the place of what forums used to be. I am definitely not ...
