Re: where is the snow
Get you a siren. Takes 2 people. One to work the siren the other person needs to be down the rd a little way. The sound from the siren will make it hard to hear the coyotes when they answer , that's why the other guy should be down the rd. Most of the time if ones in hearing range of the siren he wi...

Re: Goodman hound
I had a couple 3/4 goodman 1/4 running walker jips that were probably the toughest pair of dogs I ever had. They had bottom to them and they had no quit buttons on them. Average speed but could really drive a fox/coyote or deer. I lost one of them in the summer running one night. This was before I h...

Bute. It's anti inflamitory plus pain killer. Dexamethasone also. Not to much dex though. Maybe a 1/4 cc or less before you hunt him. These are both horse drugs but I've been using them for years on dogs and horses. You'll have to get a Rx for the dex.

Re: Deer dogs
Yeah they run both unfortunately. Early first season that's almost all you run is doe. Those bucks lay tight and don't get up and move. I've seen them let a pack of dogs get all over them and never move. The hunt changes here around the end of December to the last of the season in mid jan. bucks sta...

Re: Question for Dewey
Up until just a few years ago all our dogs stayed out. We had no pen except a 5 X 8 or so with a barrel in it for when a jip was in heat. Sometimes as many as a dozen running dogs had hide outs and sleeping holes all over our place. Like scrubrunner said they would slip off in the evenings and go ru...

Re: Car Sickness and Long Distance Hauling
I have 2 females 5 years old that get sick as soon as they go in the box. Truck don't even have to move. They drool like a water faucet running out of their mouth. Once they hit the ground they are fine. They have done it since pups and one of these females I have a couple pups off of her and they b...

Re: Grey fox dogs
I ran Friday night and had a coyote race. Never any trouble finding one of those to run. I know some don't like to run them but I'll take a good coyote race any night. Turkey season closed last Thursday so that was the first time I've ran in 2 months. Had a good 4 dog race. Quiet and cool and a good...

Re: Grey fox dogs
Yeah scrubrunner the rabbit population goes up and down here but grey fox are thin here. I don't know what the fox per acre is here but I wouldn't be scared to say 1 for every hundred acres or so. Just don't find many tracks and see very few crossing the roads at night. I do have one coming up in my...

Re: Grey fox dogs
If a running dog can run a rabbit and run it right they usually make good fox hounds. Not much runs the loops and goes through the thicket like a rabbit. I let all my pups start on them. Usually have no trouble getting them to leave it alone once they get a peice of a good fox or coyote race. Or a d...

Re: Grey fox dogs
I would like to see a pack of dogs that were broke off reds and only run greys. Would have to prove that one to me. Not saying someone doesn't have that but I would have to see it to believe it.
