Re: pointers on fur

I have a gsp who will point rabbits and tree squirrels(not much of a bay though). I don't discourage him from either, mostly because I will eat a squirrel and rabbit and their both legal to take with dogs. When he was younger he tracked deer before I broke him off of that(mostly) and even tracked a ...

Re: New Mexico and Arizona

The more I see this the more I want to stay in the northeast. I don't like my dogs getting killed.

Bird hunting

Has anyone ever seen a cur dog or feist bird hunt regularly? I'm looking for a dog and although I do mostly bird hunting, I'm looking at getting into both squirrel hunting and some yote decoying. The problem is I can only have one dog at the moment.

Re: New Jersey Houndsmen

Not really. Don't know where you are in your education, but, after you move, you will probably want to get a second dog to run on bear. Where I am in NY, we can only chase bear legally for a few months in the summer, and only during daylight hours. When we're nite hunting for coon, the dogs do &quo...

Re: New Jersey Houndsmen

One thing that i've been thinking about is that any hound or cur i get will have to be broken off of bear and bobcat. Now I'm planning on moveing out of NJ after college. Now the thing that has me worried is if i move to a state where i can hunt bear or bobcat is there a way to get a dog to run game...

New Jersey Houndsmen

I was wondering what the houndsmen in New Jersey run your dogs on. And how hard is it to get on some decent land with game on it. I'm interested in running some hounds but worried about not being able to have enough game.
