Re: Looking for anyone who uses beagles for coyote

I have never had the coyote turn on the dogs. They are always trying to get away from them. But I do not run if the coyotes are getting close to having pups.

Re: Looking for anyone who uses beagles for coyote

I hunt coyotes and fox with beagles and it's just like David already said. The races stay in a much smaller area and the coyotes circle back through the same spots over and over. If you're looking for some pups I will have a few out of a good proven cross next summer.

Re: Free casting on foot

I do it from time to time with beagles. We've had chases go as long as 7 hours never leaving a half mile radius, but it had alot to do with the fact that the cover was thick and that particular coyote had probably been run before by those same dogs and knew they couldn't catch him.

Re: Beagles

You are right about the part with coyotes running smaller circles with beagles behind them they seem to make alot more mistakes too, we seem to have alot more time to figure out where the coyote is and set up for a shot.

Re: Beagles

I don't run dogs when the coyotes get close to having pups because I have heard they can get very aggressive. I also do not run with anything less than 2 dogs on a track, and that's usually a cold track once one is jumped I let a 3rd beagle and my jack Russell out. They have bayed a couple coyotes t...

Trash breaking

Need some ideas getting my dogs broke from deer and rabbits, they don't run them every time they cross a track but if they are bored and can't find a coyote track they'll run trash. I have a 1 year old, a 2 year old, and a 5 year old that are doing it. The one year old has been shocked twice on deer...

Re: New member

And I think my older male beagle will tree well because he used to belong to a guy that owned a fox pen and he said the fox would occasionally tree.

Re: New member

The jack Russell will look up if he sees something in the tree like a squirrel or a coon but won't bark yet. And I have cleaned out some brush piles with the jack Russell before and haven't had this particular one in any barns yet but my uncles and dad used to do it when I was a kid. On the bobcat s...

Re: Beagles

I'd like to get a jagd terrier or two down the road, as well as cross one of the beagles with the jack Russell terrier and see what comes from that.

Re: Beagles

We have killed 4 of them this year with the beagles, we need some better weather or there'd have been more than that killed with them, we even used them to get some bigger hounds started on coyote because they don't overrun the track as much , move slower, and make a lot more noise so the newer dogs...

Beagles

This past year I got two beagle pups that are now 13 months old one of which had to be culled, and then bought a 5 year old male beagle as well as a 2 year old female beagle, this past week I have been running them with a 3 year old jack Russell terrier of mine and today they ran their fourth coyote...

Night Hunting

Has anyone here tried running coyotes at night with hounds? I have called them at night w/ snow and moonlight and had good luck but didn't know if it's a good idea with hounds.

Iowa bobcat hunters??

Is anyone in western iowa running dogs on bobcat ? If so would you be looking for places to run a few? I have never done it but would have a few spots I'm sure we could get one going, just wanted to see it done.
