Re: t5 collars

Really they are more like the TT15 than the DC50. They are the same thing actually, minus the training portion. I have had no issues with mine, nor did I with the DC50's or the TT15's. If you want a new collar for your Astro, I'd say they are the best available and if you want a non-shocking collar ...

Re: back trailing

Here is my .02...... Running a back track is no different than running trash. You are going to catch the same amount of good game doing either. None. Dogs are way more intelligent than we give them credit for, they can be scolded for running a track the wrong way just like they can be scolded for ru...

Re: TT10 Collar issues

It is a power button issue. The early ones were not a good setup. I've never used one of the replacement buttons. I got pissed one day and stuffed something sharp into one of my collars and poked a hole in the rubber seal on top of the button. I just ripped the rest of the plastic and rubber out of ...

Re: KNOW YOUR REGS

Andy is correct. My only question is... if you buy a lion tag, harvest one(using the said tag), and then decide to go out and chase the next day. Where is your "permission slip"???? Let's talk about use of 2 way communication. When is it legal and when isn't it? Montana regs are clear as m...

Re: Rigging Topic

Darrin, please keep in mind that I don't know shit but I will tell you what I think..... A dog can't rig what's not there. How often do you see a track in the snow in any given spot? Here it's not very darn often. I mean that if I go out hunting on a good snow, there is no guarantee that I'll cut a ...

Re: how many dogs to you run?

The number of dogs you run on lion depends entirely on what you want to gain from that particular chase. If you want younger dogs to learn something, you run only one or two young dogs and leave the veterans in the box. If you want to just catch the cat, run the veterans and leave the pups at home. ...

Re: what firearm works best?

I don't personally have one, but my brother in law uses a "cricket". It's a kids 22 rifle, single shot bolt action. It's about 2 foot long so it fits in or next to your pack but offers a ton more accuracy than a pistol. When he decides to shoot one, it works well.

Re: Garmin tt15

Sorry to hear that it's not working. Mine work very well. The only thing I can think of is that the collar is on too loose. Or else the setting is too high. I have mine set to alarm at 40 BPM. I have had it work every time my dogs tree. I wish you could set it for individual dogs instead of a blanke...

Re: New law coming to CO.

This will make Colorado the same as Montana. We have a "foot" season that coincides with the big game season. Around where I live, not many cats get taken. Last year is the first year I recall that any cats were put on the quota in the area I live in prior to the hound season starting. Get...

Re: Alpha map card not working

I would assume that the card is locked after the first use. That is how the map companies sell a card for each GPS instead of one card that could be copied and used for all the GPS's that a guy owns. I personally have never bought a loaded card, but use downloads and they are unit specific(I have to...

Re: GARMIN DC 50 IS NOT WORKING?????????????

I have a favor to ask of you. Please go to your main menu, then to Setup, then to About. That should take you to a screen that says: Software Version 3.xx. Please let me know what software version is on your handheld. Then exit all that stuff and go to your dog list. Select the DC50(whatever you nam...

Re: average hound

I'll step out on a limb here.... The average hound in my area from my observance is...... 1) a bluetic/walker cross of some nature. 2) 50-70 pounds 3) bawl mouth on track and chop on tree. 4) more prone to false tree than to miss a tree. 5) full tailed. Just what I would call the "average"...
