Re: Bobcat dog semen?
I guess every area is different and so are hunters. I cannot imagine trailing a cat for 12 hours. I really enjoy a hard hunting dog that when they finally do open on a track it can be jumped fairly quickly.

I like smaller dogs bc they don't eat as much lol.
But the dogs we are hunting the bigger stronger dogs are the quickest for the most part.

Re: Ideal pack for bobcat
I commend y'all for hunting 3 and 4 dogs I really do. We go to hear a gut wrenching race and I'd rather sit at home and watch cartoons with the kids than listen to 3 dogs run. With that being said a key element to making a cat dog is a cat. And quite a few cat races a month. We hunt 25 head and a bo...

Re: BobCat patterns on a Garmin?
Two things come to mind in regards to dogs breaking themselves off deer. One is the breeding. The old lines of non papered grey fox / cat dogs in SEVA and NENC have proven time again that when kept in good company they will break. Another is is kind of a spin off off the first one. And that is equip...

Hunt or Sense ?
The board is mighty slow. I could've posted this on the Fox forum as well but this one has more visitors. I have a straight running walkers for mainly grey fox hunting but we catch the occasional coyote and a few bobcats as well. Most of the dogs are registered hotter nosed NENC bred or SEVA bred do...

Re: Running dogs locating
We all have brains, the way we absorb things and execute said things is the key. If a dog is has the right equipment you most definitely can "hunt the brains into them." If that weren't true the best litter of pups I ever had were out of two deer dogs, that never ran deer and treed like cr...

Re: Best Dogs...
Boy this got Off Topic quick.
I ask myself who in this race can i not go hunting without and who can i part with? Or who screwed this up. Or who dont i ever hear calling some shots? If you don't get overly attached to them they keep and cull themselves.

I had to work during this hunt so i cant claim the photo credit or the dog work.

Re: Holes
Our ground is so thick you can get a 30 to 45 min race out of a grey fox with 25 dogs... If the woods is tall mature trees and open underneath, there isnt a fox there.

Re: Holes
Alot of our dogs will stay. I used to care about them staying at the hole but not so much now. We dont dig em up anymore because we dont have alot of game.
