Re: what snow machine you use?

.....Personally I have never had mine stuck or even been close to being stuck.

You must turn around or leave it on the trailer when the hills get steep and the powder gets deep.

Nope, I have had it everywhere. It doesnt have mattracks. I have Camoplast Tatou 4s, they will go!

If you have ...

Re: Frost bite

I frostbit my ears as a kid, then again a few years later chasing hounds in the 80's. I have permanent scars on my ears that I usually have to explain everytime I get a haircut. I about gotta wear a hoodie anytime the temperature gets below 50 degrees or my ears start aching.

I also had an 11 year ...

Re: HOW ARE THE PAYCHECKS DOING LATELY???

My paycheck is just how I expected it. He didnt raise taxes on people making less than $250,000. The tax cuts imposed by George bush expired and taxes went right back to where they was before the tax breaks. I personally have no problem with this. Everbody has to pay there fair share!

Kinda ...

Re: lever action 357.

I was also looking at getting a 218bee revolver to go with my 218bee lever gun. Fact is though, ammo is real hard to come by for the 218 or 25-35.

Tell me about your .218 Bee lever gun Shorty.......Winchester Model 65's were never that common and only a handful of Model 92's left the Winchester ...

Re: SNOWSHOES???

Sleds can't take you everywhere you need to go, you gotta have snowshoes too if you're hunting the high country. Almost any of the new generation snowshoes will do you a good job.....with Tubbs being the top of the list. The pair I use currently are Yukon Charlies which do alright, but the bindings ...

Re: Cold Weather Bears

Not every bear crawls into a hole or brush pile to den...occaisionally some will just curl up at the base of a tree to hibernate. I suspect these are the bear you see moving around during a cold snap in midwinter, either trying to stay warm, or more likely looking for a better place to sleep. A ...

Re: Lion population in Montana

You think it's bad now guys, wait until the SFW get's a bigger toe hold in your state. Even in their mission statement the Montana SFW claim they want more "responsible predator management." You can interpret that as meaning the same "scorched earth" lion management policy they have been successful ...

Re: leap day tom

Way to go rigit, I was wondering if that tom was going to survive the season. He'd been ranging between Card and Right Hand on both sides of the highway all year. If anybody was going to get him though, I'm glad it was the kid. Congrats.

Kinda my attitude as well. Turn 'em loose in reverse order of importance, give the young dogs a chance to earn their "stripes."

Re: What are the odds of this?

Not quite the same scenario, but one slow day a hunting partner and I decided to dump on a two day old lion track. The dogs trailed it up over a divide and down into another canyon. It was there that we noticed the snowmobile and dog tracks from another hound dogger made the previous day. There was ...

Re: When to release on wounded lion

I always tie the dogs back. But if there is a misplaced shot, ill usually let a young hound go to find it....easier to replace an up in comer than an old veteran.

Exactly my procedure......everything is leashed back for the shot, then turned loose according to importance from least to most. If I ...
