Re: Long nights sore legs and young dogs!

On the plus side you are familiar with the family of dogs you’re hunting. You probably already know most of their tendencies and have seen enough of them to know what short comings are prevent them from being what you want. Odds are, if they have you feeling optimistic, they will probably make it. J...

Re: Long nights sore legs and young dogs!

What line of plotts did your dogs go back to? I could see where a tarting from scratch in new country could test a persons want to. I coon hunted some here in eastern central Texas and enjoy it but it just doesn’t do it for me like the hog hunting. With 30 years of my own hog dogs, I don’t know that...

Re: Wolves, GPS & Silent Trailers

I’m from Texas and I hog hunt. There are good dogs that are mouthy on track and there are good silent ones. My preference and what I hunt is silent dogs. The hogs are hunted hard here and very dog savvy. A loud dog in area has put them on alert and if he isn’t really close when opens, the race is on...

Re: Been a long while!

I have 30 years of my own, I’m grown, paying the grocery bill for my own dogs experience. Was around my dad and granddads dogs growing up. I hope like heck I live to be 66.

More than likely your collars and receiver need updating. There is probably a you tube video explaining how to do it. Google it if that doesn’t work. I know the garmins have to be updated periodically.

Re: Starting an older Dog question

Mule skinner I have a dog that I just got. He’s a 2 year old and the guy that bred the litter gave him away before he ever did any training with him. The guy that got him said he couldn’t get him to hit a lick at a snake. I knew how the dog was bred and knew what caliber of dogs his parents were so ...

Brushing off

At the risk of sounding stupid, I have a question. Do bear, lions, or bobcats ever try brushing your dogs off on other bear, lions, or bobcats? In the world of hog hunting it happens pretty regular. It seems to happen more so with boar hogs than the sows. We might find a boar hog that bedding alone ...

Re: Let’s talk.

That boys gonna have to get his priorities straight !!! Lol you should be very proud. As long as he keeps that mind set, he’ll do well in life. Not many folks left that have an honest, ethical, and hard working code they live by.

Re: Sores on dogs

Apple cider vinegar is outstanding and in my opinion highly under valued. It is great as a fungicide, in their feed and water for minerals and it cuts gut fat, it also kills viruses. The best is supposed to be the apple cider vinegar with the mother in it. Mother is the combination of yeast and bact...

Re: Let’s talk.

I really don’t think there is a right or wrong way or a wrong or right style of dog as long as it’s ethical and the person feeding and hunting them is satisfied. I’m not nearly about the numbers anymore myself. I do this because the way a good dog works amazes me. The tricks and techniques that the ...

Re: Let’s talk.

Lol I hear ya. I understand it’s about the race to a lot of folks more than it’s about catching the bear. I’m obviously not a bear hunter though so I can’t say lol.

Re: Let’s talk.

Bowie, sounds like the grit is a fine line for y’all as well. There are dogs like that hog hunting too. I gave a young man a dog a few months ago. He puts on a show when he’s baying, but when he gets on the bigger hogs he seems to nearly always get cut and not just a minor cut. His problem isn’t tha...

I see. I like quiet and fast too. Did you notice the Pocahontas dogs maturing any slower than the other plotts?
