Re: Wolves

I was just informed by a reliable source that there will be no trapping season on wolves. The only people that will be trapping them is the govt trappers for damage control and collaring.
Seems that the worst wolf problem has not caught the interest of houndsmen, that being

wolf hydatid disease in the northwest

I am susporised that there is not more attention paid to the Wolf hytadid disease that was introduced with the wolves from canada and presents and extreme threat to the future of hunting, hiking, salvaging what is left of wild game etc. This tape worm is not visible to the eye, is air born, it ...

Re: Experienced Litter Picking

I am new to this site, but not at all the sport... I would love to hear some ideas on how people that know go about picking their pups out of a litter. (And I understand this is always a gamble). This is my third litter.
Pups mature at different rates and sometimes a dog that is 2 years old will ...

Re: Once a crackerjack always a crackerjack?

Just wondering your opinions....If a dog starts out a crackerjack at a real young age, are they still a great dog throughout their life, or do they sorta fizzle or is it that our expectations are too high because they were such a prodigy early on?
I beleive that much of the fizzling out is due to ...

Re: Bells on dogs

I have a hound that she trails and doesn't say much untill she knows for a fact that it is hot then she bays only a couple of times until she trees then she bays a few times. While modern technology gives us great things like tracking collars, I was wondering about putting a bell on her, to help ...

Re: Who has the right to say they have an original strain

Just wondering what you thought. This doesn't pertain to just blue dogs but who has the right to say they have and ORIGINAL strain of blueticks?

Think......THINK HARD......

As a Bluetick man, I feel that I have retained much of the "original" real hound qualities, nose, voice, ability, tree ...
