Re: Colorado Bear Hunting
Its hard to tell from the wording on the bill but it looks like the only thing that would change would be the dow having more flexibility in season dates. The prohibition on hounds and bait may still be in place. If this is the case its hardly going to have an effect either way.

Re: Colorado lion female harvest
I know of two locally, one was a problem cat.(cant do anything about that) The second was for sport wich probably cost me a hunting partner. I let a freind barrow a dog on the condition that they wouldn't shot a female if they caught one and thats exactly what they did. I personaly feel some what ...

Todays Tom
I caught a nice tom today in very poor conditions. We havent had any good snow in a long time so I hiked into an area that has a good cat population hoping and praying that we might find one. The dogs did awsome on almost entirely dry ground. There is still some snow on the north slopes but burned ...

Re: Illegal outfitting
The cost of running hounds is huge so I think it happens more than most believe. Who can blame a guy for putting a few bucks in his pocket. Of bigger concern to me is that I believe the illegal outfitting also leads to higher female harvest numbers. The female harvest numbers will be the main ...

Re: Hunting pads off ?
I've never tried it but an oldtimer that I hunt with swears by stuff called Coppertox. I believe it's mostly used to treat foot root in cattle. He recently had a dog missing for 11 days, when he found him his feet were in bad shape, a week of the coppertox and he was ready to go. The stuff comes in ...

Re: Independent Guide
In Colorado almost anyone can be an Outfitter. All you have to do is pay for the registation, insurance and jump through a few hoops and have a clean record.( Yes I have an Outfitters license) The real problem lies in people guiding on public lands without commercial use permits from the Forest ...

Of course they let their "client" wack little females they are getting paid. And of course their not going to go bragging about these little females, they may even lie about them because they are embarrassed by their greed and lack of moral fortitude. They may even get on this site and put on a show ...

Next time invoke your 5th, 6th and 4th ammendment rights in just that order. It really pisses them off but not much they can do after that.

Re: Independent Guide
Like most of the other guys said its not legal in most states but alot of outlaws around here do it anyways. They come up with clever ways around they law like charging you for other services they provide but not for the hunt. I've heard about one guy thats also a taxidermist so he takes you out and ...

Re: 01-21-2011 Lion
I cut his track at about a hour befor daylight so I did some driving around after wiping out the tracks in an atempt to shorten the track up. I ran a road that was on the next ridge top about 2 miles away and the track didnt cross so I was sure he was in the drainage between. At sun up I turned the ...
