Re: Mammary Tumor...?

Ive had them removed and had them removed and spayed. I havent had it spread in most recent cases. But i believe it depends on the vet being fairly aggressive with the removal. It seems similar to sheath or penis cancer in horses. Half swear its a lost cause some give mixed reviews and a few have ha...

Re: ??? Tips For Keeping Dogs In The Desert ???

One thing to add. For anyone really. if your south of the mogollon rim forget 99% of the manufactured dog boxes. Figure some other way of hauling dogs. Even the dog trailers with 12 volt fans dont move enough air once it gets warm. Shade and airflow. Stock trailer. Full bed platforms with air flow a...

Re: ??? Tips For Keeping Dogs In The Desert ???

I hadnt considered someone hooking one to a hose. Id think the dogs would eat enough hoses anyone would be willing to bury a water line. Mine is 3/4" galvanized risers inside 4" pvc painted outside and spray foamed inside. This stops any heat or freezing and provides enough extra support t...

Re: ??? Tips For Keeping Dogs In The Desert ???

Water shade air flow face north. Upside automatic waterers can be used in most valley locations with freezing maybe once in 10 years. Doghouses need thermal mass. It gets hot early but dont forget it also gets cold at night with our big temperature drops. Ive built plenty of kennels in the desert so...

Re: where to start in the mule game

The only mule worth owning is a good one. Seems self explanatory. But many people dont think it through or have high enough expectations. If the mule isnt perfectly behaved and genuinely likes you , you are better off passing. Theres many riders that have had experiences with poor horses that still ...

Great job ! David theres no sense in posting the pages. Everyone reads at different speeds anyway. Your reading voice is pleasant and clear. Just post pictures for each story and read on. I hope you didnt spend to much of your hunting season reading for youtube though..

Dog thieves

"Not hound related" mid january i was checking cows. My calving season. I have a few stock dogs and a couple hounds that will trail cattle on command. But i only have one older dog that you can rely on to go find hidden calves with out tormenting them or the mother. Anyway we found a coupl...

Re: Lion Hound Trainer Advice

A pup will learn from other dogs. One on one or in a pack. But theres starts and stops in every dogs learning. Bird dogs have plenty of practice and fairly simple jobs. Stock dogs have a lot of practice but more complex jobs. Lion hounds have a difficult job and less chance to learn. Trash breaking ...

Re: Pups that come from a dam that died from retained Placenta

Age is less the factor then health. However for the pup your considering. The male didnt vanish. So get the buyers name and contact them. See if the dog is really what it was advertised as and the new owner is satisfied. You may even arrange to see it. This will give you more to go on. I would mysel...

Re: Question for experienced bobcat hunters

Hound terms. They mean different things to different people sometimes. It also depends on the area game and type of hound. Theres some that will trail great but have no interest in game treed bayed or caught. But that type is rare in my experience anymore. Then there is tree dogs that tree any time ...

Re: MULES,HORSES AND HOUNDS

I just roll them "lions"in a old ground tarp and lash them on if they are leaking. Bear i always bring a pack horse and go that route. In my eager youth i walked more then i wanted . bear are difficult to tie down evenly. In a pinch you can gut them wrap them and cinch real tight under the...

Re: Question regarding bobcat hunt ????

I learned long ago its a guessing game only. I have no idea what your hounds are doing. And while i might interpret your words one way david or others may get something different from them. But its sounds to me like a couple possibilities. 1 its canine or hog they're running. 2. They were bred to tr...
