Re: Dumb question
Well it’s a sideways tree with males listed at the top of each pairing and the offspring listed at the conjunction of the branches and the eventual progeny as the trunk of all said branches in the center and offset

Re: Pure or cross bred
Breed straight. Very few people have the money or time to cross up hounds and get any further then that. You take two half and half dogs and breed them together you get a genetic mess that takes a good while to sort through and line out again. Even in the case of a required out cross inside a breed ...

Re: To Much Drive
How far were you from the dogs when the young dog turned around and the others lay down? How fast was the track being moved? We are very dry and dusty this year and even fresher tracks have been blowing out the last few days with the winds here. In Arizona I try and keep right on top of the dogs. Th...

Re: Alpha 100 screen
If your talking about a black spot that seems very common with them. And so far as I've heard replacing the unit is the next step. I had one where it started out small and gradually grew to most of the screen. One that just developed a large spot and have heard of and seen others with the problem. I...

Re: To Much Drive
Well that falls into the same class as not respecting heat or any other danger. It's intelligence or lack of in my opinion just as much as drive. Bluffs cliffs ledges trees etc. If a dog doesn't have the sense to navigate them safely in the presence of game they won't live very long. Granted dogs ar...

Re: Bear hunting or hound hunting for a living
Cory just scroll to the bottom of page and click then type away. I don't have a whole lot more information or thoughts to share on bear hunting. I've hunted them in different areas and with different methods. However honestly the last several years I haven't really hunted them very hard. The last be...

Re: Bear hunting or hound hunting for a living
I am not going to tell you I know what I'm saying, so it's just a free opinion. I don't value other people's time or my own very wisely. So if there's something I need or want done I normally do it myself. A practice that has benefits and decided drawbacks. So I tend to view hunting in the same ligh...

Re: Question of the Day
Even when we are allowed to run summers I'm cautious about young dogs in the heat. They have the drive and desire but not the brains to slow down sometimes. I'm pretty sure I ruined one once during monsoon the day started out cool in the early hours and you know sometimes we luck out with enough clo...

Re: Pelvis fracture
If it's set correctly and stays even throughout his growth you may never see a trace of it. I've had it go both ways with it healing basically 100% and had one with problems because of the fracture locations and because the vet was unable to stabilize it correctly. There was considerable differences...

Re: Question of the Day
The style is important in making decisions. And 3 years is pretty reasonable in hunting lion horseback. The first year I'm pretty hit and miss on taking them. If I'm pretty certain that even best case scenario it's going to be a long day and rough or hard access I will be pretty specific about which...

Re: How much heat?
Dogs don't handle heat great as a general rule. There's many things that impact their ability. I have watched alot of types of dogs working in the heat and there is variation in how they perform. Condition, breed, coat, age, drive/excitability etc. All impact their ability. Work they do and how they d...

There are more reasonable areas se of ajo. And in Sonora there's plenty of localized areas with good hunting. Your link didn't work .

Re: SW of Ajo Arizona
Well it might be possible. Just nothing I've seen. There's the Barry m Goldwater range and the reservation organ pipe national and some ranches in there but like I said it's rather restricted. If the pictures are during the rains that country does lush up incredibly but it's mostly desert flowers Pa...

Re: SW of Ajo Arizona
There's some MTN ranges but not very big. Cholla is real common along with other cacti. In my experience it's drier and less non succulent vegetation. The soil is real sandy in areas and gets hot quick. There's also not a great deal of area to hunt the illegal traffic is high and it's probably bette...
