Re: Foxdogs
Perk, do you think every time a dog puts a cat in his mouth he gets smarter? I had a hunter tell me he moved from one state to another taking the same strain of dogs he had been breeding for25 years. His catch rate tripled in 6 months. I believe he said he caught 72 cats the first year and had 17 ...

Re: Coonhounds and Bloodlines
Law,this dogs sire and dam were 1st generation bear dogs. His background on top and bottom were coon dogs from Ohio. This male never smelled a bear that I hnow of. He was a slobber mouth bugeyed tree dog and all the ones I’ve seen like that were protective of their spot on the tree which made them ...

Re: He do you go about picking a pup?
Dewey, I’ve hunted a lot of packs of dogs from 3 to 16 and most always the speed front end dogs is not the dog that’s keeping the race tempo. They most always get caught out of place and have to fight to get back up front. Question: when you run a pack of over 5 dogs and you are having a race that’s ...

Re: Coonhounds and Bloodlines
Bwhite, you are in a state where a coon dog shouldn’t be hard to find. Find you a young dog about 9 months old that hasn’t been messed with, and you know he is 100 % potlicker coon hound. Take him every where you can when you leave the house if it’s just to go get a haircut and back. The better ...

Re: He do you go about picking a pup?
Fellows, I’ve operated a retail feed and hardware store since 1982. I have listen to opinions on dogs from every angle you can listen to. People who have had their own family bloodlines to the young man just getting started. They are all sincere and believe what they are doing is the way to go and ...

Re: Dog feed!!!
I’ve sold dog food 45 yrs now, about every brand that’s sold in the state of Louisiana. All dog food that’s being milled now days will get the job done on any kind of dog down in this part of the country if the dog is in good health. I think that would be true for any part of the USA. Think about it ...

Re: He do you go about picking a pup?
One guy, I think you are dead on right. Reading pedigrees, studying blood lines and talking up a certain line of dogs is ok but put a pup in the right man’s dog box is the key.

Re: He do you go about picking a pup?
I’ve picked more that didn’t make it than did. It’s just luck, I picked pups that had good strong sire and dam that didn’t turn out to suit me.
