Re: Best tracking collar

I use Marshall for Telemetry and would not recommend anything else. The ability to use AA Batteries and change them anytime you need to and the collars let you know when they get low. Check them out http://marshallradio.com/en/american-hound-products/american-hound-collars For a tracker I use Quick ...

Re: Communicating with Your Hounds!

Reminds me of the movie where the red fern grows with the coon hounds. The boy would whoop and holler when he turned his red bones loose.

Great topic

Re: can one dog bay a hog

Absolutely one dog can do it but it has to be the right dog. I find sometimes one good dog will bay more hogs (often in there bed) and not make them break as much than a pack will. I once had a big leopard dog that was fast, bayed as well as you wanted, hunted hard and always looked good. But I star...

Damaging Garmin with Marine radios and Motorola's

I have not had any trouble in over a year with burning up a unit. I think they may have got the problem fixed.

Our group purchased 4 new units this year and they are all still doing good.

Anyone else notice this or are there sill people out there having trouble.

Re: Marking tracks?

I understand what you are talking about a game hog marking every track in the woods is just as bad as someone that turns out on a marked track. But if someone hunting by himself puts his name in big letters on the track and puts a big X all the way across the road Before daylight and moves on to see...

Re: Marking tracks?

Where we hunt if someone marks a track (any kind of track) and you put on it, it is big trouble. We don’t have much trouble with someone running our tracks we don’t even stomp them out. People will drive by and look at them and that is about it. But it works both ways if i find a marked track where ...

Re: Power boost/amplifier for Garmin DC-30 collar

I agree with Steve. I talked to some local people about this same topic and they said you could do it and it would work but the increase in heat would damage the unit and cause it to "burn up" the board. They said it would be like a time bomb you would never know how long a collar would la...

Re: Garmin Truck Antenna Problems

just read your post Mr. White, thank for the reply maybe we can get it figured out. Happy hunting and I look forward to your future post. we probably need to worry more about a place to run our dogs than how we are going to find them :?

Re: Garmin Truck Antenna Problems

I would have to agree with that because with flat ground line of site is exact.

awhile back i did a thread and around 70% get less than 2 miles and about 30% dont get over 1 mile.

Re: Garmin Truck Antenna Problems

Steve All I know is I joined this site to keep up with the Garmin’s and other equipment people use in our sport because these people are the hounds men that actually use the equipment, know how it works and can give the best input. You and I have always been on opposite sides of the coin when it com...

Re: Garmin Truck Antenna Problems

Well we need to try to find a solution. The fact is Garmin Astro does not work well around other MURS Devices. And it has a few other problems (like not having a way to keep interference down when hunting around other Astro users.) So lets find that Future multi-millinare that can solve this problem.

Re: Garmin Truck Antenna Problems

I like your idea with the mini repeater but the Motorola’s for example operate on the exact frec, as the Garmin channels (MURS). So you could not filter them out but if the signal was reduced via the repeater to a safe level (2 Watts) it would not stop any interference but would stop the damage to t...
