My coon hunting is mostly a side product of keeping dogs in shape. I road them in rice country. We tend to cover a good 15 to 20 miles. And they will catch coons here and there while they do it. That is the main reason I prefer daytime. Most every one is laid up somewhere shady and cool

I prefer day time. The races are a lot shorter. For me I like to stick to bigger tule patches or small briar patches. It usually some pretty good puppy work.

There's still a decent number of people on here every now and then. I thinks the ones that like to spend all their time on the internet are doing Facebook. The ones that are left here don't play on the internet too often. Or don't write too much, just like to read what other people are putting on here

Reguardless of it all, it comes down to how much you like the dog. Personally, it kinda puts a smile on my face when dogs like that are awake and greet me in the morning after 5 or 6 days of hunting. That drive will keep them wanting to hunt hard when the rest just want to lay up and sleep

I would definitely agree with pellet about intelligence. Intelligence in a dog is one of the biggest factors that makes them good and keeps them alive

I would personally prefer a dog with too much drive every time. I kinda look at it the same as a young pup that wants to trail everything under the sun. I would prefer to have to try and tame down something in a dog than encourage and try to build it up
