Re: DC 30 won't communicate... odd blink pattern
Thanks for the link for a new collar with gps box and wpx wire / terminal Buddy.
I hunted one dog yesterday, freecast her for 3.5 hrs and the dc30 worked flawlessly. It did not lose communication once.
It appears that spraying the contacts with Deoxit contact enhancer has worked for me, at least ...

Re: DC 30 won't communicate... odd blink pattern
I;ve been having "communication" problems with my dc30's also.
They lose communication, showing a ? on the astro 220, and the bars show red. This will happen at 10 yards or a km away, and any distance in between. It lasts from a few minutes to much longer before getting communication back. Grrrrrrr ...

Re: cool documentary on national geographic
Is it Boone Smith that you are taliking about, the host? I saw the show too and enjoyed it. He has done a couple lion episodes on NGTV. There was another guy with hounds on the show, they never did say his name, or I didn't catch it.

Re: what do you bring in your hunting back.
Because I often hunt roadless terrain on foot, freecasting the mutts, and because I often hunt alone, my pack has alot of stuff in it, and it's friggin heavy. In the event that I get hurt and have to spend the night unexpectedly, I hope to survive. As you know, the pacific northwest is wet, wet, and ...

You didn't say how fast he runs when roading.....flat out? trotting? lots of pauses to sniff and such?
I run three of mine on the mtn bike. One female runs fast, for the whole 26kms. I can't run her like that more than twice inn 9 days, or her front pads will get sluffed off. Her concurrent runs I ...

Re: Williams Rocket x Mt Dale Valley Bounce Pup
Running trash. The only thing worse than a dog that runs trash, is a dog that won't run anything, including trash, lol. It shows he has got "spirit" and hunting instinct.

Re: i think spider bite
Might be an abcess from a puncture wound......bite, thorn, stick etc......... Make sure there is no foreign body in there. If it's an abcess, it may have to be drained.
Spider bites usually develop a necrotic-looking black spot in the center, as in black non-viable tissue. Google for images. What ...

Re: Keeping Ears Cleaned
A *normal, healthy* dogs ear has it's own odor, but it is not foul smelling or obnoxoius smelling. The skin in the ear canal is very thin and friable....and for this reason, it's best to leave a normal healthy ear alone. Abraiding this skin can precipitate problems.
If an ear canal is infected, it ...

Re: how much should I feed my 18 week bluetick?
Dogs, hounds included, grow up to be healthier and with less risk of bone / joint disorders if they are kept on the lean side for the first year. Keeping them lean will not affect thier final height and weight, it means that they are likely to achieve this predetermined genetic size at 1 year old ...

Re: Williams Rocket x Mt Dale Valley Bounce Pup
When training a pup, and more specifically breaking a pup from running trash, training must also entail running the "correct" game. It can't be all discipline and no fun. A pups tender spirit must be nurtured and encouraged to blossom. With that in mind, and after having done some deer breaking, I ...

Even after the scent gland breaking, this pup is showing som SPIRIT. She had a short "race" on something two weeks ago when I had her out freecasting / hiking. She went onto a ridge, winded a thermal coming up, bailed over the edge and within a few moments she was ...
