Re: Need help with a young dog in Texas

U can,t hunt cat & coon with the same dog.
U will end up running coon 98 % of the time. Only
time u will ever run a cat is by accident or u happen to see one in the road.
To make a cat dog u have to break him off coons. & every thing else.
This is a good tip, as it will take u 3 or 4 years to find ...

Re: Another deer breaking topic

Off all the deer breaking methods
I would think the shooting with bird shot would be the last resort.
There are so many other good deer breaking methods one can use.
Probably the main reason u would not be close enough
to hit the dog & he just keep on run,em till u finally catch him in the nest zip ...

If your hound run a coyote backwards for 40 min,
he must have a hell of a nose.
Wondering how far he run the track in 40 min?

Re: A Coyote & the Cat Dog?

If u live close to a coyote pen
U can break them easy.
If u go to a pen just turn one dog loose with the local coyote dogs.
Shock him off then turn one more out.
Don,t turn your whole pack loose at one time.
U will have better luck this way.
In the late summer & early fall
If dogs get after a young ...

Re: What makes a Bobcat climb a Tree or turn to Bay?

Cats don,t have many enemies,
They are used to bluffing out farm dogs & coyotes
& most anything else all their life.
I think they develope this image & it just don,t work on a pack of dogs.
Coyotes have the same fault.
I have seen them, just stop & I think they think
I will just whip their ass here ...

Re: how many dogs do u need to effectively run bobcats?

Masterhoundsman,

Good post if u hunt cats in snow.
Where I hunt no one dog catches cats
except by accident.
I bet if u ask Mr Clay about one dog pack.
He would say, buy accident only
& he has seen thousands of cat dogs & owned thousands.
In heavy cat population a silent dog might get it done once ...

Re: how many dogs do u need to effectively run bobcats?

Lot of talk on here about to many dogs on cat.
If u cull all the dogs that bark off track
& bark when they are behind & use only the dogs that
bark on track & in front or very close to the front.
I think u can run several dogs ok.
I don,t think dogs ruin the scent as they run over it.
This is ...

Re: what would happen?

Most likeky what would happen with your coon dogs on cat
would be 1st time the cat marked a tree that is where u would find
your dogs treeing their heads off, on a slick tree.
Cat long gone & race blowed up.
Them super tree dogs smelled the cat on the tree & think he is there
but, this is the way ...

Re: Psychology 101

Most congressmen seem to be smart reasonable people
untill they get to Washington
Then they get in packs, like 2 wolf packs fighting each other
One pack wins for a while, then the other pack takes over for a while.
The biggest pack gets the biggest bite on the prey,
while the other pack has to chew ...
