Re: Utah lasal and San Juan
We are going down. The only problem??? My buddy in Blanding tells me there is 10 In. of new snow, its freezing cold, and blowing like crazy. Not sure we will find one or not, but we will have fun trying!

Re: UDWR LION STUDY 2013 YOUR OPINION???
I can understand the concerns but those of us willing to participate in the study have said and continue to say that the lion numbers are in the dumps here. It's time to put our money where our mouths are so to speak. Rather that the division thinking that houndsmen are a bunch of complaining liars ...

Re: South West Manti emergency closure
Yup wet females and yearling kittens and not a blink of an eye.....
What I think needs to be addressed most is 3 things.
1. Unit Size. (this has been hashed enough so no further comment from me)
2. Quota Numbers. (this is just laughable so again no comment from me)
3. We need to count ANY female ...

Re: South West Manti emergency closure
CLOSE IT DOWN!!!!! I hunt the other side of the hill and it's getting just as hard to find a track over here. Look at the numbers. It's pathetic. 5 lions killed in my unit at last check. Why? Because you can't find a track. They've killed it off.

Re: Rig training
This is just what I do. Its worked out OK for me over the years.
I would start by rigging a coon in setups. That will help you identify what dogs are going to naturally rig. Don't make the mistake of beating your head against a wall by keeping at it with dogs who have no disire to bark on the box ...

Re: thaughts on tree climbing dogs
No good. I have got a dog now who is a tree climber but I'm not getting rid of her because she is one heck of a dog. The problems I have had is jumping lions and bobcats out and getting torn up bobcats. If there is a bobcat in a pinion or cedar, I am RUNNING to get there, otherwise by the time I ...

Re: Training Conditions
That is the best advise I've heard on this forum for a long time.....My dogs will not take a lot of mishandling but respond well to good handling.

Re: Opinions
Interesting. I guess I haven't been burned yet. I don't sell a lot of dogs....a few here and there and Ive never had one returned but I can certainly see your point! Certainly something to consider. Maybe I'm to old fashioned in thinking that people will take care of their or my animals.

Re: Common Bear Hunting Oops'
Not turning the young ones loose! Not going to learn a thing in the box! That being said the other oops I make too often is on turn ins. Let one dog go at once, let it get in a good measure and let the next one go. DTFB usually ends up in a foot race. Pretty hard for me in the heat of the moment ...
