Re: New Astro 320 - Interactive with DC 30 , 40 and 50 colla

Mmm looks like I'm poked on this one unless I just get Euro collars and use them. Or find a buyer here for this unit and collar.

Re: New Astro 320 - Interactive with DC 30 , 40 and 50 colla

Can the frequency on this Euro version be changed so it will work with my US dc 30 and 40's. I'm busy pulling my hair out and I dont have much of that left. I dont want to go buying more collars and stuff from Europe. it would be real nice if this frequency setting could be changed simply by some ...

New Astro 320 - Interactive with DC 30 , 40 and 50 collars ?

A guy from Finland brought in 1 New Astro 320 and 1 New DC 50 collar. The 320 picks up the DC 50 collar it arrived with but I cannot seem to get it programmed to the DC 30 and 40 collars.

It indicates the collars are on the device but only gives distance no bearing on the compass ??

I ...

Re: Lost Hound in Ruidoso, NM

Hi Nathan are you going to be visiting with Chappie Scott later this year in South Africa ? Just dropped off some students for a PH school there today and he told me a houndsman from New Mexico named Nathan Wenner would be visiting with him later this year. If it is indeed you he said I should talk ...

Re: Whis is harder to hunt?

Yup you have dry spells here on big trophy sized leopard as well in areas. Thats mostly because they are not presently in the area you are hunting and not laying down any tracks for you to put hounds down yet the smaller cats are there to be caught. If you wish to try.

By smaller cats I include sub ...

Re: Whis is harder to hunt?

Assuming you have an experienced houndsman and a good team of hounds able to trail well and willing to bay up hard and relentlessly , I still believe your averages of successful hunts are going to be higher on the bigger cats than the smaller cats if the hunts take place in the same terrain and ...

Re: were to get a real good bobcat training scent

Try obtain a wild bobcat if you can legally do so. Build about a 3mx3m enclosure for it and a small undercover shelter for it within the enclosure for it to retreat to.That way you have the real deal to experiment with.

I have recently been able to aquire some Cameron x Smokey river pups and this ...

Re: Whis is harder to hunt?

My experience in Africa is that it takes real good hounds and a good , patient , smart handler to consistently catch our Caracal / Lynx and even the smaller African Wild cat.

Our hounds catch most leopard they set to trailing. When it comes to caracal I'd say from strike to catch it drops to 50% or ...

Re: Ben Lilly

If it does all tie up that will be a lovely bit of history attached to your pup. Your job is to get it out there and hunting so you can make some of your own stories together with your young hound. Make your own shadow.

Ben Lilly must have been a great houndsman for folk to still be refering to him ...

Re: My experience with Double U Graphics

Very helpful source. I got my Garmin from Buddy and getting additional collars shortly. I'm very happy with it. My friend is ordering a Garmin set with a bunch of collars plus the tri tronics field series from Buddy. Swift response to our requests and no BS service.

Great to work with people like ...

Re: Walk with Wick / Tree Dog encyclopedia.

Its great to hear all this positive info on these books and I look forward to learning stuff I dont know. I'm sure there'll be a bunch of good points I can apply to my new strategy here.

Re: Watch your speed when hunting your dogs horseback!

Damn good advice. Even free casting hounds when on foot , dont be to hasty when hunting cats. My observation , but I have to keep drumming it into my handlers.
