Re: ruin dogs on coon
I hunt 300-330 days a year. Coon all summer and lion/coon all winter. All the hounds I've ever had are started on coon. If they can run coon, they can dang sure run a big stinkin lion. Besides, it's not like you have to worry about your dogs runnin coon in the lion woods. Generally not much for coon ...

Re: Young bluetick question
I very rarely turn a coon loose from a cage that the dogs can see. I don't really care if my dogs will fight a coon, but I do care that they will trail one. I generally just turn the coon loose, wait 5 min and then turn the dog out to see if it will trail. Usually don't even let em see the coon in ...

Re: Decline of the bluetick hound.
First of all, this thread has been a great read. I don't agree with everything written, but a great read nonetheless.
I have one of those old school, couch potatoe, slobberin, big eared, loud mouthed, fartin, cold nosed Bluetick hounds of yesterday. This dog sleeps on the couch all day and will ...

Here's some pics that I have of my Early dog and his momma and daddy. I will be breeding my old Vaughn bred female to Early when she comes into heat again but I didn't have any good pics of her. She's a stay put tree dog to the fullest, comes from some of Oscars old stock. Early is one year old ...

Re: Elbert Vaughn
They are breed standard/old school hound dogs. My female was about 23in tall and about 55lbs at hunting wt. My male is 26-27in tall and 74lbs of solid muscle. He still has his old "Jug Head" stud dog, he's houndy and he is a coon dog. My dogs hunt both lions and coons
