I had this problem this year while hunting in the snow. Every track we put my dogs on, they acted like nothing had ever been there. It took me a little bit to figure it out, but I realized that they, being young dogs, had never cold-trailed anything in the snow. Once my buddie's dogs got the varmint ...

Has anyone ever tried smacking the side of the tree with a good sized stick? I've done this before and for some reason, cats seem to hate it. I just tapped the side of the tree a few days ago and got the bugger to jump.

I knew about this law, but just found out about it about 3 months ago. I agree that probably 95% of the general population doesn't know about this.
