I don't think many outfitters hunt this area or at least not when I was there. I was just a couple of hundred yards off the blacktop, in the valley and could see and hear the plant. The geese would work the fields, pretty hard and the lions would feast on them.

Like any breed of hound, it’s not the name, but who is breeding and hunting them. There is great hounds in every breed, cross- breed and color. The best breeders, if they are honest and if their standards are high enough will have a few great hounds and the rest will be average or less than average....

I am not sure how far you are from Fallon Nevada, but I know first hand that Cameron hounds do very well in that area.

Del bought out Harry Smith from Ohio. He hunted both bear and cats. They were a larger type hound. Many of them started to get bloat so he cull them. Del Cameron passed away.
Del passed away on Jan 4th. He lost his wife not long ago and it was very hard for him. At least he is with her now.

Hello, David. I started with the, complete opposite of what you describe, first with cur/hound crosses and then with pure hounds. The curs/hounds that we use have been in the family for more than 100 years. I could go into the history, but they are a mix of curs and hounds over a long period of time...

When you understand and stick with good breeding practices over a long period of time, something close to a clone is very possible and not uncommon with many of the services dog breeds and one family of hounds. The Chinese are just trying to take a short cut and we will have to see how it turns out....
