Re: first aid kit for dogs
Just finished stapling up a dog and thought of one other thing that would be nice to have on hand. A muzzle. The dog we worked on was gentle enough about it. But it would be great to have for those dogs who take offense at being held down and worked on. I have no experience with the tranquilizers ...

Re: Packing out elk any advise.
Both good points. I have only hunted down here in Arizona and it can be HOT. Game shot in the morning can spoil with the hide on by the evening and the hide is sure heavy to pack out. We usually skin them out and put the meat in cotton game bags. Whatever meat needs to be trimmed up for butchering ...

I wouldn't skin it, just leave the hide on and remove as much leg and neck as possible.
I think you gave great advice but I don't know why you wouldn't skin it? I was always taught to get the hide off as quickly as possible so that the meat can cool and not go rancid.

Re: Looking for kinda a older hound around 3-7 years old
I have two blueticks, a male and a female, that are well started on lion. They are 2 years old. They have been hunted with a larger pack and around hunters on horseback. I am in AZ but we get up towards Utah quite a bit if you are interested. 928-830-1020

Re: anyone using ultra sonic bark limiter
I was thinking about getting one of these to try on our hounds. Good to know they don't work.

Re: first aid kit for dogs
I have never tried the super glue trick but I have heard about it. We usually keep a staple gun (not the hardware kind, the surgical kind) with us when we are out. Most of the doctoring happens when we get back to the house. Betadine solution, saline and penicillin are great to have on hand along ...

Re: Tell me about Dewclaws
All our dogs have dewclaws. They have never given us any trouble. I had a BMC with hind dewclaws with no bones in them. Everyone told me I should cut them off. I never did and he worked lots of cows and never had a problem. I say, if your gonna do it, do it when they are teeny tiny puppies, same ...

Looking for Young Male Black Mouth Cur
I am looking for a BMC for putting on cows. Anybody out there have any leads? Not looking for papers or bloodlines, just a dog.

Re: input needed
I wouldn't worry if you couldn't sell them all. You could always give them away. A 6-week old pup is nothing but potential regardless of the bloodlines. I would buy a dog that had some training on him but I would be hard pressed to spend much on a pup. You just never know what it'll grow into. Just ...

Re: bob scent training
I've been taking my pups while they are still small over to a buddies ranch that has barn cats running around. I leave the pups there for three weeks. Both pups and cats are free to run. Pups train themselves to like to run cat and tree. Its like a party for them. Its legal. Makes them cat crazy ...

Re: can a good hunting dog make a good house dog?
My housekeeping standards aren't that high, but the dogs are pretty well self-cleaning.
Ha, I am right there with you on the housekeeping standards. Some dogs are allowed in and some have been 86ed. All the sick or injured dogs get to come in. I know they are healthy enough to go back outside ...
