Re: Hortemiller Blueticks??
I would recommend that you call and talk with him directly he will not steer you wrong. I live near him and have known him for a very long time and have nothing bad to say about him ever. As far as his dogs they get it done summer and winter and are run on bear and Bobcats. I am not big on giving ou...

Re: question about fox pen sizes
I run in the fox pens quite often. I prefer a 40 acre pen to start pups but once they turn on they run much better once they can open up a little in a big pen. I ran an 80 acre pen for several years and it is adequate for coyotes but better for fox. I had both in it the whole time I was there and pr...

them Hortemiller dogs must really get the job done, had one close to 20 years ago off that lucky dog could be the best I have had on bear and cat.

Re: Puppy trials
I do not care how much she has been hunted, she did not get the job done. I have not had anyone else complain, and I talk to everyone who comes in. There are at the least 9 coyotes and 6 fox in 80 acres. more than enough game for a dog that has run to go out and find game. I never saw her range out ...

Re: Puppy trials
There are more than enough in the pen to run the puppy hunts. some guys blame the pen for dogs that cant hunt, that dont mean there arent any coyotes. I do not think anyone else will have puppy trials here in Michigan.

Re: Runnin Bloods on yotes
I tried a couple bloodhounds on bear but they just didnt have the speed, they ended up in a different zip code at the end of the race. One made a couple trees but would come over and sit next to me wondering what all the commotion was all about.

Re: Puppy trials

Re: do yotes line out or circle
Here they line out on high ground and when they hit the small pines or swamps will circle all day. In breeding season the males will leave the country and go back to wherever they came from

Re: How do you start your tracks?
I run off baits mostly, if i dont have a bait active I like to run off tracks in snow. When we dont have snow I road a good dog until he gets one going. Cant say they never take one backwards but they seem to get turned around quick if they do.

Re: Questions about runnig coyotes
I do not cross fences outside so your view on this would be better than mine, there just are not fences where I hunt. I also do not hunt my dogs in the pen their entire lives, if they cant make it outside I dont care to run the pen with them. Breeding does not make a dog cut and slash, or not cross ...
