Re: Are we seeing a DECLINE in HOUND HUNTING
In Washington state hound hunting is pretty much dead. We lost bear, bobcat and lion with hounds in 96 due to a voter initiative from the city folks. We got back catching cougars with a drawing in 5 counties a few years ago but your chances of getting drawn are about once every 6 years. The game ...

Re: Garmin Use in California
In Washington state we have a few totally deaf hound hunters and the gps is the absolute only way they can track their dogs. They have tried the beeper type but can't hear and the needle reading is not reliable but the gps is invaluable. I think the group that represents handicapped folks might be ...

Re: do you loan out your dogs to your friends?
Had anuther thot on this subject. Most of us now have wolves in our huntin area and we all are willin to take a little chance that we can catch a lion or bear and not get our pack wiped out. We all know them wolves have one thang on their minds and that's to kill and eat every dog we got. We still ...

Re: do you loan out your dogs to your friends?
This is a tuffer question than you think. Human friendship is extremely important to all of us and Our Creator. I have several outstanding dogs I'm looking forward to seeing in Heaven and renewing our friendships and hunting. I've spent years training any good dogs I've had but if one of my friends ...

Re: Wildlife Materials DTR-6
The trx6 is lots handier because the antenna is made onto the small tracker unit. It's not nearly as powerful as the 1000. It's o.k. around a mile or so but if you are on a long bear chase you'll have to drag out the 1000. It's no better about directional than the 1000 either. I have never been ...

Re: Bill White Legal Defense Fund.
Just talked to the attorney handling this case and he would prefer that folks not mail him the donations but mail them to me instead. He doesn't like having to answer to every single person on how much time he spent, which day, etc, etc. So if you haven't already made a donation to this just mail ...

Need somebody to read my letter to Commission
I won't be able to make the March mtg. in Ellensburg the Game Commission is having to discuss and likely eliminate hound hunting for coyotes. I typed a letter and will send it as an attachment to anybody that's going if your willing to read it to them for me. Otherwise, I'll try to figure out how to ...

Re: WA State set to outlaw more hounding
I saw that mentioned when I read the upcoming proposed hunting seasons. They said that they are going to recommend eliminating hound hunting coyotes because "the public sentiment is that canids shouldn't be chaseing canids". This is a bunch of hogwash for sure. This will only appease the animal ...

Re: Cat hunters do yourself a favor
Nobody never did answer houndcrazys question. He ask about what to use over the wool to keep it dry. I use wool pants too and buy this spray on stuff called PermaDry that you spray on anything and it puts an invisible coat of waterproff on. My old junker snowmobile has the seat all busted up and the ...

Re: Okanogan permit holders
Hey Buzz, the problem with only giving draw permits is the WDFW don't make as much money on that. They make a ton of money on the boot hunters selling all of them a cat tag and the chances of them gettin a lion is about 1 in 100,000 so the return is huge. Although, the draw system is excellent in ...

No permit, no pursue
Darvin, If the quota is filled by law you can only pursue in that county if you got drawed for a kill permit. If your local and didn't get drawn you can only hunt coyotes and coons so remember that when you get stopped. I agree with Buzz about not shooting female lions. Much like shooting does. If ...

Ear problem, need help
We have two dogs now with it seemed to be ear mites or something. They've had it for a few years now and I can't get anything to get it stopped. They shake their head like their trying to shake out water and do it about every 10 seconds. These are actually my boys dogs and I'd of never let this go ...
