Re: Handgun question
I agree 110% with everything Mike said. If I am bobcat hunting and there are no wolves around, I like my little Ruger MKII 22LR. In an area where there may be wolves, I will carry my 22LR or 22Mag rifle and then a 45auto on my hip. If I am going after mountain lion specifically, I may carry my Winch...

Re: Public horses Owners needed
I'll be glad to hear when they start gathering all the feral horses on western rangelands and haul them to the packinghouse. We need to get the damn things off the range.

Re: Feet - what's the issue ?
Like Mike said, without good feet, it doesn't matter what attributes a hound has. Just like with a horse, you need to start at the ground and go up. If you will look at the breed standards for all of the UKC breeds, they will say that a tight 'cat foot' is desired. This is because a platter footed h...

Re: Steel thickness
I'm building mine with 1/8" wall tubing. Mainly because it's what I have. It will be heavy, but I am incorporating anchor points into the build so I can tie it down good.

Re: Recommended Reading
Check out High Lonesome Books, out of Silver City, New Mexico. They have a large selection of good hound hunting books and they are all good. It doesn't really matter which ones you get first, because you will soon start going through all of them. Give Dutch a call and tell him your interests and he...

Re: Removing ID Plates
4" angle grinder. Place the name plate in a vise where the rivet is barely sticking out. This will give it some stability and keep it from bending. Then take your angle grinder and go slow and light. Don't bear down on it too hard, or you will get into the name plate and possibly the collar. Be...

Re: Coyote hounds
If you are on Facebook, check on the "Just Plum Crazy" group page. It is for coyote hunters and there are several listed. There are some good houndsmen over there who will be glad to help you out.

Re: Cost of a good dog
They can go between $400 and $1200. Some guys will ask for more, but decent hounds can be had for less than a grand. I just bought some, but I practiced ALOT of patience and held out for exactly what I wanted at fair prices.

Re: nonresident snow lion hunting trip
I literally just got off the phone with someone from the anti side of the aisle who suggested the same thing. I was just flipping a little shit David's way, but the idea does hold a lot of merit. The trouble is getting people to come to those classes or workshops. We are worming on the creation of s...

Re: nonresident snow lion hunting trip
The Hunt Ares you are referring to in the Blackhills of Wyoming do have lions, but they lack good access due to private land. And most of that private land is leased to outfitters, or is already being hunted by resident houndsmen who have been cultivating relationships with the ranchers for many yea...

Re: New proposed AZ lion/bobcat law
Liz Odell, I can say from experience, if something needs to be done, you better get started. There will be a lot of support for the idea, but don't get discouraged when there is not alot of action on the part of others. Start making contacts with lawmakers and start sending out messages to every hou...

Re: New proposed AZ lion/bobcat law
Does Arizona have a "Hunting, Fishing, Trapping" amendment in the state constitution? If so, that may help knock this bill out before it even gets started. If not though, once this legislation is defeated, that is something Arizona Sportsmen should go after. I am not sure what I could do f...
