Re: Question that needs a answer
A dog that face barks or fights at a tree is the worst thing a houndsman can own. He will rarely get himself killed, and as chance would have it, it will probably be your best dog that dies due to his fighting. I don't tolerate it whatsoever, it's a one and done kind of deal for me.

I'm not sure if this has been posted before, but I saw it over on PredatorMasters and thought it was an interesting read!

Re: Define "Brains" in a Hound?
The ability to figure their way around obstacles, and know when they've blown past a track. We get dogs ledged up in all sorts of cliffy country. Some are smart enough to figure out a way around/up the obstacles, and others will bark at the log a bear ran up for hours.

RAPTOR!!
Haha...don't go that route unless you love the local gas station. 14 mpg is the best the in-laws have ever had, and that was going downhill the whole way. Average when we're cutting roads is 7 in that thing. But it sure can cover some ground when it needs to, and pretty comfortably too!!

Re: trucks
If you're willing to add a few stripes and some tree dents to the bumpers a full size will do just fine. The fuel capacity is a plus, as you don't have to worry about running out due to a day of cutting. It's also nice to be able to lug a diesel slowly down the road when you're cutting. As ...

Re: hotdog barking on chain
I have burned through a handful of the petsafe ones, and have since bought the tritronics from Double U. They have worked great on all our dogs except one that is hard headed as can be (go figure, he comes from Houndnem!) They need to be taken off at feed time, as the buckets will set them off, but ...

Let's go with the number 728. I need a few more collars, because right now a few of mine are running telemetry only. I like this game, but I'll like it more if I end up with a new DC40!

I believe I know who you're talking about. If it's who I'm thinking of, he runs/breeds a coyote dogs (catahoula crosses?) quite a bit. I'm not sure if he's still running hounds, but will have a friend ask him. PM me your phone number and I'll get it sent his way.
