Im wondering if anyone here (Canada) runs bears. What I would like to do is tag along, learn the ropes then ...

Re: Best state for all around hunting

BC and Alberta cover a lot of species. Alberta would be my canadian choice Saskatchewan is prairie and lose some species. What about Wyoming or North dakota? or Idaho or Utah (all I know is they have some strange religions).

Re: Best state for all around hunting

Land up here is typically more expensive. Tighter hunting and firearms laws. BC is expensive and liberal, Alberta is expensive, maybe on the decline now. If you think Obamas trying to take your guns you should see some of our laws. Firearms are not rights in canada.

Re: hunting in the rain

Light rain is great. Always seem to have a good time before during or after light rains. Dogs open and track well and fast, so must be good scenting. Heavy rains or thunderstorms Ive never had good hunting.

Best state for all around hunting

If money was no object which state is best for big game hunting (lions, bears black and brown, elk, moose, goats, deer etc) hound hunting (small and big game), pistol carry. No yuppies or democrats.
I want bang for my buck, large acreage. I prefer timber, not big on dry desert and scrub. Looking at ...

GIS files on garmin

Has anyone converted GIS files to run on their Astro. The GIS files i have are in .sid format and not compatible with what garmins can run. Garmins support .gpx, gdb, kml, kmz, jpeg. I cant find much info on how to do it and the GIS files i have put the 'birdseye' imagery to shame.

Re: canadian coyotes

In Ontario all you need is a small game license to hunt them except if you get up into northern Ontario then you actually need a tag. But the rest of ontario there is no season or a season thats open all year and no limit. Non residents can buy small game licenses too.

Re: catch-dogs

Yes Pops is right i know a guy with running walkers that all he does is let the dogs kill the coyotes. They make short work of a coyote in the right situation. They will get about 60 to 70 in the winter which is on the high side of the average for this area. Compared to my dogs and other guys ...
