Re: What's to cold?
That's a question that is asked a lot by guys. Personally that's your own call. Let your dogs tell u if it is too cold bybhow they act. We here in northern Wisconsin lots of days its well below zero without the wind chill. Coldest day is hunted and killed a Coyote was -25 air temperature and dog nev...

Re: Coonhounds dont always turn out?
I am no pro but consider myself better than most. First a guy needs patience and along with that a dog with the right breeding. You also need to get a dog to handle before you worry about getting them to hunt. Starting at a young age 5-6 months for instance start making drags catching coon cats w.e ...

Re: trinaing my hounds for bear
I run my dogs on bear and coyotes. 2 dogs only haven't needed more then 2 dogs to catch a near for the last 7 years. I also do not have any problems with them running coyotes in summer but I know its cuz they r smart enough and the bear scent definitely much stronger. I also will never ever let my b...

Re: need some advice chasen coyotes
We run coyotes here in big timber in northern Wisconsin. All coyotes are different and some circle no matter dog is on them. What I've seen my plott dog is slower then my walkers and barks steady start to finish and he will circle a coyote by himself for hours. Now at the same time if are walker dog...

Re: when to give up on a hound
Mondomuttrunner nailed it! People need to get their dogs to handle before they can hunt! You have to spend a shit load of time with young dogs and get them to listen and obey you and then take em to a pen n get em running a bit once they know the game hunt the outside n run the shit out them. Can't ...

Walker dog for Stud
I am putting up my coyote and bear dog Jock up for stud. Jock is a crossed up made to trail and staify any hunter. Jock is 3.5 years old and definitely the best cold trail dog we have owned for many years. Doesn't matter if its fall or winter any animal that has been in the area from night before. 7...

Re: cold temp
This is a popular topic this winter and controversial. If we disnt hunt unless it was above zero we honestly wouldnt have hunted all wintet. Today was day 47 of consecutive sub zero temps. It has been rough. I personally think ppl should let their dogs be the judge if its too cold or not. This winte...
