Guys,
I wanted to share this pic. Not sure how wide it has circulated.
The caption said Edwards County Tx, killed in a snare trying to get axis deer under the fence.

Re: Mexico’s Lions Population
Thanks for the hunt Nathan. Good time man.
Memo and I hunted a ranch in state of Coahuila, Mexico. Sitting around a campfire and listening to his stories is was fun… Somebody on the site may know more than me about Luis Chapa. I understand he is still contract hunting on a limited basis.

Guys,
I deer hunt in the foothills of the Sierra Madre 45 miles inside Mexico from Texas .
We have plenty of Lions. Can anyone comment on the Lion population in Mexico and who is hunting them. I know Pegleg has some straight Goswick/Gascons hunting in Sonora.

Re: General pictures - Gascon Saintongeois
Good thanks to Big and Blue for finding a home in the Coahuila, Mexico for the Gascon . We are in semi arid brush country and get around 15''of rain yearly. We find the dogs very well suited.

Re: Gascons / My First Lion
Thanks for the support guys,
I remember when I moved form duck hunting to deer hunting how my patience grew. Now I am moving to deer hunting to cat hunting and again I learning how to be more patient in the field.
Gary and grzyadms, You are right. The problem is I live a good hike form the ranch ...

It is with great pride that I describe to you all my first lion experience.
We are hunting a ranch in foot hills of the Sierra Madre in Mexico.
I wanted to end the hunt by roading the dogs to a tank I have back in the hills.

Dave's work could be called a documentary of the current state of the sport.
We should never let the pioneers of cat hunting be forgotten.
Their line's strengths and successful local practices should be documented.
Thanks Dave...

Locations Advantages to Deer and Not Lions
We are building cement water tanks at several sites around the ranch.
It's a deer hunting ranch in Lion country.
Would it be better to build the tanks in heavy cover or out in the open?
Where are the lions least successful?
