Re: Lion hound training

I agree with Dan on stopping the "gimmicks". Your pup will learn very little about running lions from releasing coons to him and I personally think drags are an absolute waste of time and will just screw a young dog up with hunting real game. If ya just have to do it I'd limit it to a total of two ...

Re: Puncture wound

Be careful with hydrogen peroxide continuous use, its going to kill infection, but also hinder any good tissue growth. Once cleaned, keep it clean. Definitely finish the antibiotic. I like to use Granulex V and spray it on open wounds.

The cones do not last long and usually end up causing a fight ...

Re: Wyoming Houndsmen Association

I would like the following topics discussed:
-Pursuit season for Bear and Lion
-Bobcat Quota
-Only grant Out-of-State lion licenses to states that grant Wyoming Reciprocity as far as hunting is concerned
-Female Quotas for more areas, there has to be a healthy female population to sustain ...

Re: Lion season

I agree. Lion hunting is becoming more and more about the money. A lot of areas in Wyoming close extremely fast. If you don't shoot the lion out of the tree when you catch it, the next guy will and the season is closed. I myself would rather kill the lion and close the season than see the guy down ...

Re: Snowmobile Hunting

The best sled setup to pull behind a snowmobile that I have seen was with the older leaf spring skis that were on ski-doo and john deere sleds. A frame was built on top of that that gave a good foot of clearance. On the frame was 2 plastic blue drums that were layed on their side and strapped to the ...

Re: Wyoming Houndsmen Association

Turnabout is fair play! If Wyoming game and fish has the balls to do the same, it will keep those greasy rabbit chokers where they belong with their dogs! Which is not Weston county or Crook County

Re: Wyoming lion hunt... Wanna join me and a buddy

Better bring a snowmobile hunting that country! The snow can get deep real fast. Even with a guide, you will not be able to run a sled in the wilderness areas.

Re: Hunting Rig Tires

Thanks for the information.

Jeff- that's what I was hoping to save a little more is my sidewalls, and thinking the kevlar would help, but maybe its just a gimmick.

I definitely do like the "go anywhere" of all 4's chained up, but what I was running into last year hunting, was just a little bit of ...

I have not had very good wear on toyo's as compared to the duratracs. Anyone else seen the same comparison?

Hunting Rig Tires

I am looking to get peoples opinion on the "Best" tire to run on a hunting pickup.

I mostly will be in very rocky terrain, usually quite a bit of snow and drifts, very little highway.

What is everyone else running and why?

I am looking at the Goodyear Wrangler M/t W/ Kevlar.

Re: Separate Dog Runs

Thanks for everyone's input. My 3 intact males have had free range of the fenced in backyard for 4 years now and only a few issues during feeding time, but only when they had been couped up with no decent exercise.

Then last week I caught them fighting 3 times, the last time was pretty bad ...

Separate Dog Runs

I want to know everyone's opinion on the pro's and con's of having separate dog runs for each dog.

Does anyone give them free range of a fenced in area?

does anyone run into much trouble with dogs fighting if they are not isolated throughout the day?

What is the purpose of isolating a hunting dog ...
