I live and work up there. You cant run cats or bears. ID is not far way, but you can't hardly go over the top (pass CR) in the winter. It's a bit of a drive down around Newport to Priest river to hunt.
There are some hound doggers up here still though.

I have a 25lb bear killer that has never been touched... every other dog hase been injured, but this little hound is fast, elusive, and pretty rough. She is in as close as the other dogs or closer and works well.

IMO- public land needs to remain that way... can you see them selling to their oil or timber cronies and deregulating? I can. Hunters need to resist ANY conversation regarding selling land.
