deep snow but we get 6 more

this last weekend was fun, they seem to be running in pairs good. only complaint would have to be the snow is almost too deep for the dogs to hunt. They did fine when we got them on a good track and they were running a coyote. Trying to get them to hunt in the sloughs was tough. drifts around the ...

got a good run in before the blizzard!

we woke up Saturday morning knowing a blizzard was coming in the afternoon or evening sometime. We knew exactly where we were going to try first being one was spotted. We brought in reliable molly, hot nosed chief, sugar and our pup kona. we walked the dogs towards where it had been seen last. We ...

Re: How to catch a coyote?

we dont run any sight dogs in our group here in Minnesota, but we do catch coyotes with the dogs we have. A few years ago when we had a lot of snow we would catch close to half of the coyotes we got up and running. Now with not much snow the coyotes have more places to hide and they can run a long ...

Re: confused. any ideas

we just had a similar issue with a real reliable female. she was doing a lot of things that were not normal for her. We left her home for a few weekends, fattened her up a bit and let her get rest. She is back to her self, sometimes they just need some time off. Good luck!

Re: what to do....

we appreciate the suggestions from all of you that posted. We did not try any of them yet because Kona the pup seems to be real interested in chasing after this weekend. She jumped 2 coyotes on her own and ran 2 all way to the kill and ran another that got away.
I walked her in on a spotted coyote ...

trackin seems impossible but we caught a break

#13 for us this year

If it hadn't been above zero with the windchill on Sunday here in Minnesota, we probably wouldn't have hunted. We were itching to get out and did have one spotted but it was a section we didn't really want to hunt so we free casted into a new section to try it out. There were ...

Re: what to do....

i am helping train this pup and run coyotes almost every weekend with a group of guys and she has had plenty of opportunities to be around other dogs and coyotes and coons. She hasnt shown any interest in staying with the dogs when they open up and get something moving. she goes and hunts with them ...

3 more coyotes and a few coon to go with

some new snow would help out but the dogs seem to be doing pretty well when the sun is shining. Most mornings we have a coyote spotted so its been fairly easy to get one going right away. makes for a fun start to the day.
