Re: North Carolina bear license

I am going to buy my Lifetimes for N.C. being that they are only $1,000. Since I trout fish over there as well it will pay for it's self in 3 years even with having to get the $125 bear tag every year.

Re: DC 30 help

I figured it out I think. I had bought a new collar and just hit auto ID and when I was going through my collars today trying to fix it I noticed that the collar not working and the new collar were 1 digit apart so I seperated the numbers and it seems to be working fine now. I hope that was it but, ...

DC 30 help

I replaced the strap on my (previously fine) dc 30 and updated all my collars to the 3.8. Last night when I turned on my collar it aquired GPS signal fine but, after 10 seconds lost Comm. I tried it several times and it done it every time. This morning I checked the VHF connection and it was fine al...

Re: How many dogs?

My ideal kennel would have 2 packs of dogs in it. In each pack I would have 1 straight, dependable dog, 1 or 2 up and coming younger dogs and a trainee. My problem is that I can't stand to see a dog get all excited in the lot and not take it.

Re: Anyone Run bears Alone?

I can NOT stand to follow someone threw the woods. I'm not endurance race horse but, I like to move on....when I want to and stop when I want to. I don't like having someone constantly saying, "stop did ya hear that" inbetween breaths, just to get me to wait for them. I like to get up and ...

Re: hard headed top notch bear dogs.

I all but gave away the second best dog that I ever owned because he was hard headed. You could set your clock by him that at 4 pm he would start barking and didn't shut up until feeding time. Bark collar didn't even phase him or slow him down. I swithed up feeding times to try and confuse him but, ...

Re: wanting to buy a garmin

Buy the Garmin. I don't know that the 320 gets 2 miles or that the 40 is better than the 30 because I've not tried them. I own a 220 and 30s and love them except for when another collar interfiers with mine. That gets annoying. As far as extras, map card of your area for starters and here is how I r...

Re: Dog Waterer

My uncle made one out of a licks it and just threaded in a nipple where he could pressurize the take with a compressor. Worked good from what I remember but, that was 10 years ago and he sold the trailor when he got out of bird dogs.

Re: Affording hounds

I work at night... I use the term work loosely. My wife and I have a farm. I also do a little bird taxidermy and I dig roots. Ginseng paid out good last year at $680 a # so that helped big time. It's nice to set down in a patch and dig while your dogs work out a track. Sometimes I will admit it's ha...

Re: Ultimate Predator Magazine

The wife picked up 3 magazine subscriptions for me as a Chirstmas present. All 3 were placed at the same time. I've recieved 2 of the 3 already. Guess which one I haven't seen an issue of yet? Ultimate Predator. Piss poor service if you ask me.

Re: breaking dogs

Once you learn how to use a Tri Tronics shock system you can just about make a dog do anything that you what him to do short of reading a posted sign. Seriously. Between a Garmin and a Tri Tronics my dogs think that I'm god or something. They can't lie and if I find that they are I can lay the smack...

Re: Charging station for all our gear?

I will try to take a picture of mine this weekend and post it. If I can remember. Anyways, I'll try to explain it. I got a 1x8 (white pine) board about 4 foot long for the backing then took a 1x4 (white pine) and then attached my Tri Tronics charges to it. I then took them back off and drilled 1 hol...
