I only chace coons in the rice country in the late winter, early spring. I have to make sure I don't make those high doller duck hunters made at a guy k...

retired dogs

It is a hard situation to talk about with most dogs that make it to retirement, at least the ones that earn their feed. But what do you do with a dog that is ready to retire. Assuming that she makes it, my lead female might be at that point in a few years. She is 10 right now, but still hunting as h...

Re: Big vs Small

And the dogs that do that and can flat catch a real runnin bear are a special dog. But I do beleive that there are some bears out there that will out run almost any dog, and ome times all dogs. when you turn out and there is nothin but down hill, and you get one of those just runnin bears where the ...

Re: Dog Box with rigging rail

I tied to post some pics but it wouldn't work. But the box in my pickup right now is a 4 foot long by 42 inch wide by 2 foot tall plywood box. the rail is square tubeing with an angle iron base bolted to the box. I have been lucky and dont have any dogs that like to chew on the box, but that is a pr...

Re: hillbilly

just to prove a point I wrote hare and not here. I can garuntee you that was not on purpose. I already know I am a horrible speller. But I also know that people that own hounds earn a name of being hillbillies, at least around here. And when called that by some people it is a complament, by others i...

Re: Big vs Small

that is a very good point ike. But what about the bears that never hit a bay. there are some runnin bears where that happens. I'm not wantin to argue what so ever, just curiouse on your opinion. I agree with you that in baying desitions there is a proven domenant animal. but what about the bears tha...

Any one else write stuff on hare and when you write it everything in your head seems propper and written right. But latter when you go back and read what you wrote you think, what hillbilly wrote that. I know all of my english teachers would be impressed with how I write. But I was curious if anyone...

Re: Big vs Small

A lot of what every one has to remember is theres a lot of factors that go into every race. I have had situations where I thought conditions were perfect and the dogs didn't earn what they've eaten for the whole month. Other times when you turn out figuring nothing is going to happen but its worth a...

Re: Some bears up by the Redwood Walker pack

This rain sure was nice, even though I found out my kennels need a little work on the roofing. Starting friday should be some good hunting. I've boxed a few bears, but they've all had their running shoes laced up and have out ran the old dogs. Once deer season is over it will be nice for the young o...

Re: QUESTION ABOUT A WHOOPED OUT DOG?

You might want to try getting her back into is on a sure thing. Catch yourself a little 20 pound piglet. Throw her and the piglet in a bay pen and see what she does. Whatever may have happend, haveing one of those little footballs running in front of her should be something she cant resist.

neighbors cat

Yesterday was an interesting afternoon. To start off I live in town, not a big town, but town. I was getting my kennels ready for the rain that we got today and let the dogs run loose in the back yard. I have a little male cure, an old walker female, a new b&t pup and a new walker pup. As I was ...
