Re: Training Not Translating to Field

There really isn't a thing a person can do to re-creat the real thing. Making a drag of any sort is great for a young pup just to encourage them to use their nose. But a pup the age of yours is either going to have to learn on his own. You can walk tracks out in the snow and keep him going on the an...

Re: NOVEMBER

I'm not saying there isn't a lesser eavil, and that is what you should vote for. But a politician is a politician. And anyone who thinks our country isn't changing and hunting isn't going to become a past time needs to look at history and other longer established countries. All a person needs to do ...

I hate to break it to you, but it doesn't matter who is voted into office. As long as someone else makes rules for how you live your life, especially any sort of politician, you are screwed

Re: Tieing dogs at the tree

I also think your question may have a lot to do with the type of dog a person likes to own. Me personally, I like a dog that will locate and then sit back and tree where they can see a critter in big timber. Or in small timber just sit and tree wherever they happen to feel comfortable. I rarely kill...

Re: Tieing dogs at the tree

For me personally, I have started making my leads out of braided paracord. They use to be mad out of rope. Anyhow, the ones I make all have 2 snaps on them to hook to dogs. For the most part every tree I am at dogs are tied back in pairs. Sometimes things go fast and I just grab a dog and tie it bac...

Re: Given up on Facebook

I personally don't see it as a good thing. I'm only 33, but I can plainly see the addictive aspect of it. And honestly for the few positive things it may have to it, there is way more negative that I see. I've just come to realize it isn't something I want to be a part of. I couldn't figure out how ...

Given up on Facebook

I've given up on Facebook. The nonsense that is constantly going on with it has gotten to be more than I want to tolerate. And I mean nonsense in every aspect, from constant politics to things that should ever have been put on the internet. It just got to be too much. But I still enjoy interacting w...

Re: Dog changes mouth on certain tracks

When it comes to rigging dogs. I have seen times where all the dogs box. When you let them down, I have seen older dogs that in the past have been wide open from the time they started the track at a young age hold back on opening at an older age. These are typically not a really fresh track. Thanks ...

Re: hounds as pets

Pretty much every one has their hounds the way they enjoy it. My dogs are a hunting tool and my best friends. They belong outside because the house is for people and if they have to stay out over night when hunting it is easier on them if they are aclimated to the weather. They are kept in running s...

Re: UPDATED: OR 7 Wolf enters Shasta County

I didnt think of it at first, but doesn't it stike anyone odd at the distance this animal has traveled. If any one has traped animals and relocated them they would understand that an animal either dies from not understanding its new food sources or starts working its way back to where it came from. ...

Re: Here's one for the books!

I wish you guys good luck. Just understand going into it that more than likely you are going to spend more money than the cost of the ticket fighting it. I personally hope you do fight it and win. I wish everyone that gets the bad end of a ticket when it comes to huntin and fishin could fight them a...

Re: How many treed do you consider a good night?

I'm not trying to take any credit from the dogs, but theres a few places around northern california, when you get in the rice country. It's pretty well thriving with coons and if a guy has the places to hunt can get on a lot of coons in no time flat. The problem with the coon huntin places i have is...
