Re: flir
I would imagine there is always some part of the cat exposed. I damn sure could've used that puppy the other day.

Re: National Hound and Tree dog Association
I think if you had a 3rd party of a existing state club running the money or having that persons approval before funds can be withdrawn. That may alleviate the issues Buddy is having a problem with. I'm sure if you attended some phone conferences with that proposal of integrating a person from there...

Check out a guy by the name of Paul Trepis. I went to the regional trapping convention a few years ago and he had a pretty good simenar. He used ram power springs on snares.

I would say in my opinion do it all by yourself. So if you ever lose your pack you can do it again. I trained up my first two without older dogs. Lots of trial and error. Mostly errors.

Re: you dirt hunters, a question
Dewey here is a question I've wondered. Have you ever put in for the Idaho permit and hunted for cats there. Its a unlimited take, so I would think it would be worthwhile considering how much you travel. The quality is much better than your coast range and what not. Makes sense to me!

Its called corporate money making. They aren't out to keep the same old system. They want to innovate it every couple years and make money doing it. I saw writing on the wall two years ago and upgraded to a alpha system. It was well worth it.

When buying a pup, either go hunt with the guy or know enough people that can reference them.

Re: idea on wolves
In my opinion. A guard dog would be in effective. One reason is just keeping this dog with pack much less when it gets split up. Then you have the numbers factor. I figure singles usually won't mess with a hunting pack but a pack of wolves is usually the problem. Now if you were to target them just ...

Re: Swich Hitting our Hounds
J,
Another good example is when your dogs trail a cat thru a coyote pairs core area. Especially tree in it, they will come and harass the dogs. I've never had it happen myself, but heard enough stories of it happening that it does happen.
