Re: New Thread topic

I think there is many reasons to sell out that are more honorable then lack of ability to make quality dogs. Life happens, family, school, other priorities that proceed hound dogs. I sometimes think about what motivates me to keep hunting and unbelievably it's a short list, I love dogs and hunting. ...

Re: Building a Big Game Pack

Most people sell pups at 7-8 weeks but I have found that waitin till 12-16 weeks you can learn a lot more about which may be the best pups.. I wouldn't worry about sex much. I would worry about getting the best one of the bunch. More or less what 1bludawg is getting at. You will go through dogs even...

Re: Obedence

I do want to add though once a boundary has been set and a dog KNOWS I am not afraid to bring the foot down. Good timing and good opportunies seem to be the key in early stages of a young dogs life.

Re: Obedence

I think mental stimulation in a young dog is great. I raise all of mine in the house and it seems somewhere around 6-7 months or so when they begin to fire a little and want to hunt that they would rather move to outside with the "big" dogs. I am very light on my dogs and want them to lear...

Re: Jumping out bobcats

That's the type of dog you like. A dog that pushes a track and locates cuz it has too, its a type not a breed. You may have found more of that type in a certain strain but to generalize and say running dog crosses ARE that way may be a little much. The worse false treer I ever seen was a running dog...

Re: Jumping out bobcats

I read your post and re read it Dewey and do you think you as the handler affect your catching ability more than the breeding? What's the percentage? Mind talking me through that? Pertaining to dhostetlers post why not just go find another to run? Lots of trail jump tree seems to make dogs tree from...

Re: been a tough year here

Here in central oregon hunting has been really good. Deep snow has helped in getting even the tough cats to climb. If you can get them jumped they are caught for the most part. Getting around has been the tough part, I am used to going in the afternoons and mornings for quick hunts but conditions do...
