Re: Swich Hitting our Hounds

Took a couple young pups out tonight for a coon hunt. Started out slow a with a couple of tough tracks they couldn't finish. About 11 pm dogs struck a track I knew wasn't a coon and figured it was deer (a habit these pups recently started). I didn't shock them because it didn't seem right. A little ...

Re: frozen dry snow

Thanks for the tips. last year was bad. It seemed to only snow when it was extremely cold. The snow would just blow around and on windy ridges there was no snow.

frozen dry snow

What are some tips y'all got for dry powdery snow. The kind that you can really tell much about the track. How do y'all know its a cat in these conditions. Last year seemed like we couldn't get a decent snow and figured I needed to be better prepared in case this year was the same.

Re: National Hound and Tree dog Association

I understand what your saying TGA. Power is in numbers and I would be happy to be 1 more member to add on the list. Is this the right organization to support? I don't know..but at some point a person has to take a chance for change. Please don't get into the habit of sending members propaganda ever...

Re: Swich Hitting our Hounds

Been bear hunting. I got a couple pups that have been on plenty of bears this year that have decided deer is fair game. Going out for a training session tonight. Can't wait for some snow. Buddy of mine is getting lots of bobcat picks.

Re: Swich Hitting our Hounds

Thanks. I was just curious how that worked out for you. My many problem with switching from bears to bobcats is getting them settled down to work a bobcat track.

Re: Swich Hitting our Hounds

Dhostetler- With pups do you find that bears teach them to tree by sight? I have always tried to get mine treeing coons solo before putting them on bears.

Re: looking for a shock system

Thanks. I will check out the Johnson collar. Would just go to the alpha but everyone I hunt with has an astro. Its nice to be able to help and get help tracking dogs.

looking for a shock system

I was wondering if there was a shock system out there that I could slide on a telemetry collar or garmin collar. Darn dogs are running out of neck.

Re: National Hound and Tree dog Association

I think its the guys that done the tailgate adventure shows that started this. They promote the club on the UKC forums.
