You know the type
I have a real good friend that's hunted with me for YEARS. He's good at everything and really enjoyable to hunt with and be around. He has a fault tho that just runs all over me. He keeps dogs, buys high dollar dogs, and then they set on the chain only getting off the chain once maybe twice a month ...

Re: how are the wardens?
I have had good "run in's" with the law but, I've had alot of not so good ones. You are guility until you prove yourself innocent to them. That metality is what's wrong with game wardens now a days. If they would come up and ask how it's going and proceed from there everything would be fin...

Re: Has anyone treed a bear with just one dog?
Nolte I know what your saying but, there are some dogs that actually KNOW what it takes to tree bear. Like one that I hunted with would open just enough for you to locate her and then went quiet right before she treed. I often wondered if she learned to sneak up so close that when she did open it wo...

Re: price of hounds these days
Nikki... I've never thought about the coming back when to old to hunt deal. That is if it makes it that long... but, I'm sure we've all HAD to get rid of some dogs when times were tough and would love to get them back. That would be a great deal if you ask me. I'll remember that if I ever fall on ha...

Re: Has anyone treed a bear with just one dog?
All the time buddy. Most packs there's only one dog doing it all anyways. The others are either tagging along trying hard or just along for the ride. I have a pack most people would shoot but, I run 4 dogs at a time. I have two dependable tree dogs and then I got fur pullers and pups. I hunt 1 tree ...

Re: Welding question
PegLeg. I actually thought about that very thing today when I watched two of my males walk up and piss on the chain link their in now. I believe I'll just keep saving and get the 3/16 even tho it will cost me an additional $1,600. That's for 10 lots tho.

Re: Welding question
It will be a welded frame from tubing with wire mesh welded to it. It will be a dog lot. There might be a shade tarp pulled across the top. I planned on using angle iron across the top members and drilling holes in the angle to pull my ropes tight.

Re: How do you carry your electronics
I had a leather shop make one from my old classic 70. It worked for years and I never lost it one time.... that I didn't forget to latch the button. I'm going to have to find another leather shop to make me one for the newer models. It needs to fit snug but, not so tight you can't get it out and hav...

Re: price of hounds these days
I believe houndnem hit it on the head. If I were to add anything to this it would be a "finished, broke, trained" dog. Finished as in rig or strikes the desired game, trails it and trees it. Broke as in won't trash and trained as in obedience. I don't believe there is enough stock put into...

Re: Quick Track vs Marshall
it doesn't really. I hunt on a 217 freq and I have friends that hunt on a 216. If you have a box like a Maxima 5000 you got everything from 216-220 and anything in those will work. It's good if you run across a good deal on a bunch of off freq collars. If your box is only programmed for a 216 you ca...
