Re: male got worse female got beter
It all depends on what you are doing. If you have been getting them out a lot, I mean more than 4 times a week you may want to keep an eye on your male and think about not hunting him. I have an 8 month old pup right now that has no problem doing it by himself and that is what i like in my dogs. You...

just curious
I am not judgemental when it comes to dogs, I just like to see walker dogs in my kennel. I was woundering if any one is going to be either having some pups soon or has a younger dog they are looking to sell? I am looking for a female that islong legged, long eared dog. I want it to come from a famil...

Re: Striker breed cur dogs
These dogs have a lot of natural ability. They work well on bear, as well as coon. Some are also used to hunt cats. Who did you get your pup from? They tend to be a well minded dog that can make a good pet as well as a hunting dog. Depending on what your pup came from he may be bred with anywhere fr...

Re: how many coons in one night.
I also hunt a lot of the rice feilds and duck clubs between willows and maxwell. They are loaded with coons and most people are more than happy to have you out there because of the duck and pheasant eggs they eat. I would have to say when I hunt this country it is an average of 7-8 coons a night. Du...

Re: ran one in a hole (pics)
I get quit a few in pipes around here. I lost my cur dog a few weeks ago, he got a twisted gut and I didn't catch it in time. I've never heard of it in a 35 pound dog, but aperantly it happens. Anyways, he was a hell of a pipe dog. duck season will be over here this weekend so I will get to start co...

Re: starting dogs
If you think they might be able to do it let them try. It does help to have an experienced dog. But it also helps your dogs to push them to be their best. As soon as I think a pup can put game up alone i let them try it. I had a pup that ran a one bobcat with an older dog. I took him out a few days ...

Re: coon trapping
Rats can be a problem, but they are normally in the trap when you get there. I have had times before where I've hit a rat streak and it seams like thats all I can catch. Its dissapointing to go out checking traps and you see the doors down just to find a rat inside.

Re: Is it legal?
The main reason people don't like to trap in california are the laws. They don't make it impossible, but they sure do make it expensive to run a trap line leagally

Re: Ammo question[Paco-Jack]
It was 3 or four years ago that I bought a couple boxes just to see what they were like. I shot the remington express ammo. They were decently accurate, but not as accurate as you could get with a bullet that is actually touching the bore in my opinion. I also had a couple rounds that the sabbot was...

Re: thinking about training my dog to hunt bobcats
give it a little time and you will laugh about wondering about a second dog. Owning dogs is addicting, you will never have enough to be happy. Your blood hound may very well tree just fine, but the breed is not known for being very tree minded. Scents will help train and you will find some great inf...
