Re: Closed mouthed Plott hound pups??

Mr. Mike one of the better dogs I've ever hunted with came from some of that stuff Lonnie Morse and Bruce Perrilloux have bred up, up until he was about 4 he was open on track and after then he was dead silent but my goodness at the bottom that dog had, only buckskin plott I've ever seen. On more th...

Re: Closed mouthed Plott hound pups??

I wouldn't base my theory that silent mouth dogs don't have the bottom as do open dogs because I have owned one or two and seen quite a few more cur dogs that when they got on a hog you better pack a lunch because your going be there until you catch them off or catch the hog or they've ran themselve...

Re: best coon light

I lost my cradle also and looked all over and finally found a pet supply store that still had some in stock, grain valley pet supply maybe , I could be wrong, I had to order a whole new light just for the charging cradle, now I carry one as a spare, I'm going to look into seeing if an electronics st...

Re: People who run plotts

What about the Orval Roberts dogs, I know there used to be good bit of them used for hogs here in the south, have any of you used them in bear or cat....I just got a pup ( well a yr or so old) off Mr. Orval's last stud he owned and a gyp of his grandsons .

Re: Closed mouthed Plott hound pups??

Peg leg I have to agree with most of what you say, I'm sure you've hunted in more than one place and know there's a big difference in the types of hounds that have to be used for the same type of game in various geographical locations, it's no different with hogs, in some states it's takes a certain...

Re: Closed mouthed Plott hound pups??

To add I've seen on several occasions old boars make a turn with the wind at their back and will stop and wind whatever is chasing him, I've noticed this running silent mouth curs.

Re: Closed mouthed Plott hound pups??

The way I see it is, it's been proven that a boar hog can wind a Sow in heat up to six miles away, what makes you think they can't hear your hunting vehicle or smell all the smell coming from a hunting rig, an open dog is like the debo of the neighborhood if he can chase you running that mouth and h...

Re: Truth or Not

Man it's not so much the breed as it is the line or strain of dogs, there's fast and slow in any breed, Hogman, like as stated your in walker dog country, I'm not far from you, there's a big difference in the fox pen dogs as there is in an all round good hunting walker, it's a sad but true statement...

Re: Got a question for hog hunters.

This is just my opinion but seems like your going to be getting ying and ying instead of ying and yang, I don't know the dogs but from my experiences it looks like your expecting silent mouth dogs that are 3/4 hound and you said that these dogs were bred to be gritty but will stick with a runner, wo...
