Bear hunting in Montana
I posted this originally in the Bear hunting section, I am reposting here to give the MT houndsmen an opportunity to read it, many of whom probably do not peruse the bear section due to a lack of a season in our state. I advocate bear hunting with hounds and hope to get some feed back from all of yo...

Re: montana bear hunting with hounds
I have been doing some research and many of you will be pleased to know that hound hunting is good for bears. Ok, not so good for the ones that are killed, but it is good for the species. The number of human/bear conflicts is DRAMATICALLY lower in areas that allow hound hunting. The result of chasin...

Re: montana bear hunting with hounds
Sticky is the term used to put this conversation at the top of each and every page of the forum, from coyote hunting to the cur dog page. It will get it more traffic. On the topic of seasons and quota's etc, my belief is that we should swing for the fence and be willing to accept a base hit. I think...

Re: montana bear hunting with hounds
could this be 'sticky'd'? i think a lot more people would be reached if it were. most MT hounddoggers arent prowling around the bear hunting forum I'm guessing.

My oldest son has been battling bone cancer this last year and should be done with chemo in April and we were contemplating a celebration hunt. Re: Dog Breeds
My next door neighbor uses a pit for duck hunting! talk about getting strange looks at the wma lining up for the duck blind draw on opening day. She is a good dog, retrieves ducks goose and swan. she just took to it, he has three labs/lab-x's and she is probably the most consistent.

Re: Looking For Stud Dog
What line is Bloody Bill out of? Are you interested in keeping within that line or outcrossing? I run and like the Salmon River Plotts, JD Scribner in N. ID has some of the best there is. He runs the same game that you do and they get the job done. I know of times when there were bad dog-killing bea...
