i'm lazy and like bands for some livestock. i like getting the work done when they're small enough to handle easily and you can give them a antibiotic shot to go along with it. that being said it sure isn't recommended for dogs. you'll end up with a hell of a mess. dogs have very little testicular development for quite some time. and then once they do develop sufficient for a band to be effective they are old enough to have their permanent teeth. which they will promptly use to try and chew the band off with and in the process chew into their scrotum and let bacteria etc in. then you end up with a very sick or dead dog. you might be able to use a cone but if your going through all of that you might as well cut them and be done with it in a quick and efficient manner. or just talk nice to the vet and see if they won't be reasonable about the charge most will .

I cut a male this spring using a band. Worked good, just keep an eye on it.

Cut many of males with a band. Don't see the sense in paying a vet 100 bucks. I put two bands on for insurance purpose. A couple hours into it they will have some discomfort and may start spinning and chewing but that will pass. If you want you can put a cone on them to prevent the chewing. Any signs of infection a little amoxicillin will clean that up. Hope this helps.

Just slice each side open and pull them out. It's easy
