I have a 7 year old male plott that's in good health hunted hard all season and went on the chain last week after the season closed. He was fine yesterday when I fed but, this morning he can't get up in his rear legs. His legs are drawn up and stiff and can't support any weight. He can feel me rubbing his back past the hips but, doesn't respond to any pain stimulation in his legs. The only thing that I can think of this season is that he tried to crap a lot for a day or 2 and nothing seemed to be coming out but, that was months ago and he's crapped fine ever since. I've had a dog with coon hound paralysis and he has some of the same symptoms but, he's not been near a coon and he has more life in him than that dog did. I'm stumped.

Re: I'm stumped
Sounds like maybe a pinched nerve in his back or a bad disk. Some arthritis in his spine may have flared up. Maybe even in his hips. Especially if he's just sitting around in the cold now and not being worked. But not having any pain reception in his legs would indicate nerve damage to me.
